I won a golf magic comp some years ago and got a completely new puma outfit with shoes and a round at Hadley wood GC. Was a good day 😊😊

Great Sunday show this week , I’m biased as Cowdray is my home course and like all of the members I’m very proud of our track , also the course improvements have moved the club into a higher level , we are lucky to have some spectacular courses within 20 miles of us and and we know feel that we are worthy to be mentioned in the same category as them . It was also great or meet you Dan , I’ve been a subscriber for a couple of years and was there mid afternoon for a regular 3 ball game in lovely conditions, it was so interesting to watch you at work , camera set up, hole by hole commentary to your subscribers and also the drone work too . Thanks for showing the UTube world our course in such a great way.

When I went up on Saturday , I agree it was difficult to follow games , and I couldn't get near the shop. It reminded me of the queues at Disneyland ! I managed to base myself on a couple of tees so got close to some great players. However all in all it was a great day .

I was there on the Saturday and your right it was a 3hr wait to get on the postage stamp and unless you were in the stand you had no chance of viewing the hole and did not want to spend all day in 1 stand. It was impossible to follow one group. Great experience to be part of it but also enjoy watching it all unfold on the TV.

Some of the bunkers at my local course have been done the same way as Cowdray. Whilst I do try to keep out of them (!), the revamp makes a massive difference although I had not realised that the liner helps keep the sand slightly damp so that it stays in the bunker. Only one downside with our new bunkers is that the new sand has some sparkly sand (silica?) which strips any finish off a wedge far faster than normal sand - one shot is enough

Thanks for another Sunday Morning show, great start to the day! Cowray looks great and well worth a visit, also looks like you are growing your business and hopefully to great success - keep up the great work.

Lovely short course. Always nice to see a major investment in a golf course like that.

I went to Hoylake last year and there weren’t many leaderboards up so you had no idea what was going on and you couldn’t get a mobile phone signal to check. I prefer to watch on tv.

That Facility looks amazing. Seriously, you didn’t have to test out all the bunkers, 😂

Another great video, Dan. It was interesting to hear your opinion on Royal Troon, from a spectator point of view. Some are trying to compare the Open to the U.S. Open, in different ways. I liked Troon better than Pinehurst (don’t like USGA set ups or the green fall offs). However, the Rory/DeChambeau finish was more exciting.

Mornin to ya, Dan. 1:11am here in Little Rock, Arkansas. Nice facility. We’ve got those same new bunker modifications and the results are excellent: depth of the sand is tight and consistent. Love those rubberized paths. Oh, and love that shirt!

Dan I agree with your comments re spectating at Open. I went Frid and recalling previous visits to Troon for Open it did feel were not as close to tees. It felt that the positioning of shot tracking equipment took priority over paying customers getting the feel and experience of getting close to world class players hitting tee shots. It wax am experience and great atmosphere on the property but did feel waits for stands and access to tees were not as good as previously

Interesting Dan. It was good to say hello to you and Lester on the Thursday. I tend to disagree with you about viewing at Troon. I went to RSG and viewing there was rubbish. Many of the surrounds were below the level of the fairways and you struggled to see anything. Hoylake on the Sunday was horrible. The weather played its part in that and the crowds on a Sunday only have half the field to follow. I thought Troon had a decent amount of high ground to the sides of fairways and behind greens to generate natural viewing areas - specifically at the back of 12 and behind 9 Tee where you could also see across onto 8 green and 7 fwy and green. I won't go back to The Open (Thur-Sun). If I go, I will stick to practice days from now on. Players are more interactive, crowds a little less but I think I am now uncomfortable with the prices. It is not fair on my family to spend the amount that following the Open live now requires. Great episode!

Love a Par 3 course! There should be more of them, doesnt seem to be too many pitch and putts around anymore.

Open was great to watch on TV, but stinks it wasn’t as great in person. You love those par 3 courses and that one looks fantastic! Nice to see so many courses over there putting money into the actual course. Must say here 🇨🇦 I’ve been quite disappointed in my two regular courses after this past winter. Maintenance seems lazy, grass clippings being left in the rough, greens not as well maintained. Not good. Would love to know how many of your viewers go on overnight golf trips regularly. Not something I’ve ever done as within my region anything decent is way too expensive, or it’s a trip down to Florida or Myrtle Beach which I’d love, but haven’t ever done.

Dan been watching your tempo how do you keep it under control. I struggle with mine. Is there something you do or think about. Thanks dan

Love the par 3 course. Wish there were more facilities like this because it’s that length of shot that’s so critical to improving as a golfer. However to have spent all that money and then use mats for the tees is disappointing. Yes it avoids maintenances but truly sharpening up a short game requires striking from turf.

Rudding Park has a nice park 3 course. Great for a warm up. Agree there aren’t enough.

Went to Hoylake last year and the spectator experience wasn’t great to be honest. To see Rory we had to get a couple of holes ahead and watch him come through. The par three from the grandstand was the best viewing to be honest the hole the pros hated

Hi Dan. They have done a fantastic job with only 1,000,000 quid spent for design/shaping... Irrigation/drainage...usga spec greens materials... bunker liner/sand...cartpaths ... etc All pricey and pretty much invisible items. Too bad that the average Joe can't see it, as it's mostly all underground. Unfortunately, lots of those folks always ask "what the hell did you spend it on?" LOL
@mervynhayes22292 ай бұрын
Bunkers! Yes nightmare on a lot of courses around here, including our own! Not enough sand, too much sand, wrong type of sand ‘can lay bricks with this’, too compacted, too dry, retains too much water and all this after spending hugh amounts of monies over the years! Best greens in the County but may be top half in bunkers! But you can’t just change the sand without some sub structure in place! Like the idea of damp sand consistency and not being blown out!
@roberttaylor18012 ай бұрын
For a course that is already up and running, major works makes no sense. Of course changing bunkers, depth etc making the course potentially more difficult could be a benefit, planting trees again making it tighter I get that. But the trouble is the adage everyone in golf says is "Golf doesn't have to be expensive" well that is partly true. You don't have to pay for the best clubs, the best balls, clothing etc but when you come to play the cost for 18 holes is getting stupid. Sure there are some cheaper courses, generally run by Councils that are at best crap. Courses open to the visitors around here in Essex are almost pricing themselves out of golf. Investment for a quick return is no good

Half an hour for a par 3 9 hole course? 🤔that’s a drag race.
