4.6 V8 engine is the best engine Ford has ever made to date. I’ve owned 3 Crown Victoria’s and never had had any issues. My first one I had went about 465k before I had to swap engines. The oil pan had a small drip but it would’ve cost over $500 do change it out. So I decided to replace the engine for a 50k used engine from a Lincoln for $800. Love these cars!

It's If memory serves, I was reading in an automotive magazine when Ford first brought out the 4.6L engines, that one of the design criteria was the engine lasting at least 230,000 miles with no significant parts failures or issues. Mine's an '08, and I intend to keep it as long as I can. None of the new vehicles interest me in the least, and I've never been a Mustain guy. The sad thing is the only way Ford could get law enforcement departments to start buying the Taurus and Explorer police models was to kill the Crown Vic. Admittingly, the major reason Ford killed the Crown Vic is they didn't want to spend the money on equipping it with a stability control system for the upcoming 2012 mandate as well as equipping it with a mandated backup camera.

@@andy_182 No, I wouldn't say he's lying. I had my engine rebuilt because the valve stem seals started to leak, causing oil to burn. It was a better investment to get a rebuilt engine instead of just having the heads worked on. My car however was an old, beat-up police cruiser. Depending on the dept, cops will beat the crap out of their cars, and surprisingly they still have a lot of life left by the time they go to auction. They're fairly easy to work on, so it's not impossible to still have the same transmission and engine for 1 million miles if you keep up with the maintenance and things that will inevitably break.

I'm very abusive with my 2003 P71 crown victoria. I push it every day to its limit, I've done a lot of maintenance and repairs since I've gotten it, it's sitting at 209k as of this morning. I got it last year in June at 173k miles. It's been 15 months. I'm building a 5.4 for the car at the moment, for more torque. It'll be built just like the 4.6 but with CNC 2v heads, stronger springs, and probably a stronger rotating assembly

" it has a million miles so I'd like to preserve it" starts flying around the corners with that bad boy ahahah. Im not hatin, just thought it was funny. Just bought a 98 lincoln town car executive series with 88k miles and no rust at all. Hoping I can make it to 500k miles. Loving it so far. Love the panther platforms

Part of the reason I bought a crown vic is because my uncles 94 Thunderbird with posi, we called it the thunderturd, we did donuts, burnouts, jump railroad tracks, go offroading beat the living crap out of it and then drive it out of state mutiple times no problem and he barely did any maintenance to it. Eventually the transmission did fail but it was after years of abuse and he would netural drop it and chirp the tires at 55mph. I miss the beast, but my uncle made some poor choices🍺💊 and sold it for basically nothing. 🤷‍♂️

I'm on fuel pump number four at 96k miles. The AC compressor had to be replaced at 93k miles, but that should not have been needed. Took it to a mechanic twice, and a second mechanic, trying to troubleshoot the AC compressor staying on when it should not be (mode set to heat). They were unable to find the problem. The AC eneded up burning up when it came on when the outside temp was in the 30s. After they replaced everthing, the problem of it running all the time was still occuring. I tracked it down to a stuck relay. Works great now.

I have a 2010 Police Interceptor, got it with 72,900ish back in August and now it has 76,000. Got it from a mechanic who decommissions cars, and before that it was a University of Alabama Campus Police car. Hope I get this lucky. My only worry is all the idle hours would probably not allow this to happen.

Nah, rust is the only thing to worry about especially the rear quarter panels. Regular maintenance and replacement of worn out parts is all you’ll need to do
@thenattydaddyproject
@thenattydaddyproject 2 жыл бұрын
You have absolutely nothing to worry about my friend just do seasonal oil changes and any little maintenance that pops up and the car will run forever your probably gonna wind up doing a set of coil packs, intake, electric problems such as switches or motors (window for example) and the trans might need to be serviced down the road but that 4.6 will never stop running if it’s in the right hands

I worked at a ford dealer many years ago, and an expediter's diesel econoline came in with a million miles and a frozen odometer at 999,999. The customer wanted it reset. As I recall the tech had to call the factory engineers and it was a real debacle because nobody anywhere ever figured that garbage would make it that far.

I've had a 3.27 and currently a 3.55. Could make the tires chirp with the 3.27, and the 3.55 fares better, especially with Trac-Lok.
