Back in the early eighties I was way off the grid scouting for the up coming hunting season driving on a one lane goat trail when two humvees were almost in my face , not slowing down they flue off the trail into the high sage brush and rocks looking so smooth looking like nothing could stop them , unknown to me l had stumbled upon a test area , at this time they weren't in service yet ,I sure was impressed with what I saw and put one my wish list ,looking back at it , almost forty years later I sill can say wow those things were COOL !!!!

This Humvee is AMAZING! I been wanting to get one for a while now, and start customizing it, but haven’t had the time or money yet to do so lol but one day I will and would love to modify mine like yours! But with a few more slight modifications 😃

Speaking from experience, the "soft ride" lift coils from American humvee or mod mafia are a night and day difference in ride quality. Small bump compliance is much better, and significantly reduces the harshness. The springs are more expensive than a spacer, but are the only way to increase ride comfort.
@humveeadventures3 жыл бұрын
literally just drive over everything faster than you ever would in a normal vehicle. It'll literally ride far smoother. Going over things slowly is what makes the ride far more harsh than need be.

I've got $22,000.00 sunk into mine right now and I've still gotta to a suspension lift and get new wheels and tires. I want to do 42's on mine too but I really don't wanna do the body lift, I've done that before for someone else and really don't wanna go through the headache of doing it again. If I don't do the body lift I can only fit 40's but those still look pretty nice and will put it a few more inches off the ground compared with the 37's. 42's sure do look good though. I would love to do an engine swap with a Cummins 5.9 l turbocharged matched up with an Allison transmission. This would still allow me to drive it through deep water and submerge the engine but realistically that wouldn't happen much cuz the after effects suck as you've got to change out all the fluids etc. after fording water. A gas would be very nice though as it wouldn't be quite as loud. I've assisted with about 20 custom military Humvee restores and most looked nice once completed. I wasn't a big fan of a couple of them but that was the customer's decision on how they wanted to do it. Yours looks very nice! Those 42's look sweet! Nice job on the engine swap and I love the dual winches! I look forward to seeing the rest of what you do! Man I would love to go for a ride in that!

When i built trucks for the border patrol, we put high water fording kits on them. All we did on the smaller vents was to drill out brake bleeder screws and attach hoses to raise the height of vents. On the larger banjo bolts, we drilled and tapped them so we could use the bleeder screws there also. Then, run the hoses up inside the body/fenders and mount them with filters on the ends.

On mine, with the stock springs and the upgraded shocks, it rides just the same as the originals. There is no discernible difference in on road or offroad ride or performance. Can't complain, though, the replacement shocks were really cheap.

First of gotta say I love the build and the content. Personally, I want a humvee really bad right now, I have a CUCV with some mods but would consider selling it for a humvee. Any one here have any thoughts on that? I think the 12k springs make the biggest difference in ride, the ls swap shed some weight over that 6.2.

Everyone has a Jeep...thats why you didn't do it to a Jeep. I have a Jeep TJ and I am sick of seeing a Jeep on every corner with every type of human being behind the wheel. So I bought a Hummvee as well...thats why I am here...thanks!

Suspension lift on front and body lift on back? How confusing is the wiring to run 24V and 12V?

Body lift and suspension lift all the way around. The wiring is simple, just keep it clean.

@humveeadventures3 жыл бұрын
Don't put a gas engine in it if you want to use the HMMWV for what its intended use is. Only do a gas engine swap if you're making it a grocery getter (on road, MUCH quieter, MUCH better fuel mileage types of reasons). I say this because of the HP and Torque curve differences between gas and diesel engines. They are designed for 2 VERY different uses.
