You got lucky. I been trying to install the new style HMMWV wheel on my 87. Been trying to use a steering wheel puller for 2 days now and it will not move. Yes, the nut is off. I have removed wheels before and never ran into this problem. Ready to start cutting.

Yeah it was a tough one for real. Many tools and some frustration but finally got it to come off.

You can trim the adapter down and reweld it back together. Done it a dozen times cuz the wheel is too close

How did you get the wire out when it was embedded in the steering column?
