Track Name: The Swedish Rhapsody Disk: 1 Track: 01 Language: German One of the better known numbers stations -- and fittingly so. Its haunting, intermittent jingle is the stuff of nightmares, to be certain.

Okay so here's the idea. It may be obvious that this is a recording of a number station. These are used to safely send messages to spies around the world. These numbers correspond to letters, but not just alphabetic. They use convenient one-time pads, which are books with sheets that help decrypt a code. To keep the message from being discovered, every day a new sheet is used, with a unique way to decrypt. May seem creepy, but it's a genius method that can't be cracked.

It continue to exist up to the early 2000's when it came to online banking, and each user had received a TAN table from the source bank. Later, it was found to be easily reverse-engineered, exposing the master formula, and therefore considered as deeply flawed. Now we have 2FA/MFA and HBCI cards that do the secure encryption these days.

When u listen with the mindset it is a simple code sent by living human beings, it’s not “creepy” BUT if u listen while thinking about the people who had no safe means of communication, thus had to put the livelihood of their messages into this code, in desperate hopes to not be found out by the enemy... it’s much creepier!

@@soldyrkare5790 They probably threw some infrasound in there to discourage people from listening if the message isn't for them. Certain frequencies of infrasound can't be actively heard, but can instill an unexplained sense of dread. Well, unexplained at the time of the experience anyway, obviously this is an explanation, but because it doesn't register as sound in your conscious mind you don't know why you're so uneasy.

Swedish Rhapsody is a well known numbers station, operated by the Służba Bezpieczeństwa (Later Agencja Wywiadu) that used AM broadcasting and operated between the late 1950s and 1998. It is notorious for its use of what was once believed to be the voice of a young girl speaking in German, yet it was later revealed to be that of a special machine used by the German Stasi known as the "Sprach-Morse-Generator" -wikipedia
@arino2533 жыл бұрын
The voice generator was actually a so-called "Schnatterinchen", but it was later replaced by the Sprach-Morse-Generator. The Sprach-Morse-Generator had a different voice and the samples were digital, while the Schnatterinchen Generator used analogue tapes with a different voice (as heard in this recording).

Hi. I am sound-engineer and music theorist from Bent, New Mexico. What is creepy to me is that the initial test signal is given as an E-flat, and is pitched to Scientific-tuning (A-432 hertz). The key is thus established at E-flat. But when he song comes (played on a glockensphiel?) it is, indeed, played in E-flat major, but it is tuned higher than that. Yet, oddly it's not at standard A-440 hertz, but at some degree beyond this. The song this sort of trapped between two keys (E-flat and E). Even weirder is that the speaking-number girl that comes in is speaking at a low B-flat, which to me is purpleish in color, and is the fifth degree of E-flat. So, in music theory, and any good bass player, knows that placing the fifth below a chord actually neutralized it. Sort of harmonically dissolving the chord, frequencially stripping the chord of it's power and very identity. Finally, that B-flat note of the "Mien Herr" is being spoken at the natural tuning again (good for her; at least she's still human!). But this natural tuning goes against the off-tuning of the song (which isn't even grounded in STANDARD tuning!). Final Analysis: Code of Satan. (On a side-note, here are my visual color-shapes for a little JS Bach piece: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5_KoJeqrNB9kLc)

Lol my great Grandpa had the same machine that would produce the little girls voice and before he passed he used to let me play with the machine and teach me how to make punch cards for running strings of morse code or in turn numbers which is also called the Stasi Sprach Morse Machine for a multi use of applications. I don't find this creepy at all it just brings back memories of me and my great grandpa. I never really got the full story of what he did to acquire the machine and the knowledge on how to use it but i'm born and raised in East Germany and my great grandfather was in the military just like most people around that time and I was to young to understand any of it it in the first place I just thought it was a cool looking cash register that would speak to you when you ran the tape through or pressed the number pads. Given now i somewhat have a good idea about what the numbers being broadcast mean and how they were decoded but its hard to say considering how secretive everything is and considering that most messages can only be decoded by one person and unless you have the training and the right equipment and books to decode the message you're basically never going to find out.

Imagine yourself in a dark room (like a horror game) with a little chair and a spot light on the chair and a radio on it with the words at 1:02 playing and you can't see the end of any of the darkness where you are. It's because it's perfect potential for a horror game and those that know what horror games are like can get scared tf out of this stuff. Like me.

it's not the jingle itself, it's what it's used for and what's broadcasted with it. nobody knows what it means, who's emitting it and who's supposed to get the message except the emitter and the guy who it's adressed to, all we know is it's a cryptic message emitted on short wave radio. someone somewhere is saying something to someone fuck knows where and nobody else can get what it is, that's what's disturbing, something hidden in plain sight is going on and even if anyone could hear that at the time, that's all you'll know.

I remember hearing these stations quite often while browsing through the SW band back in the early 70's.Shortwave is largely silent and boring these days.

Perhaps for the best, honestly. Or perhaps they just communicate via digital methods now vs analog methods. Give it a couple of years for quantum computing to develop more. QC is a potential for absolutely massive breaches in cyber security, they can brute force pretty much any device in a matter of minutes, regardless of security.

I remember I was playing around with my Short Wave once and I stumbled onto a number station, now I already knew about them, and found them really cool and creepy but I had never found one myself so I went berserk. It was creepy and exciting. I recorded what I could with my phone. The station I found was not however accompanies by music tunes, but with a really creepy series of tones probably developed to be as creepy as possible to get people to change the station.

I was really not ready for what happened at 3:00. I hear that sort of distortion in a lot of these videos, and I assume it's the radio operator trying to tune the set or something like that, but in this case the result is a terrifying demon-child voice.

Personally, number stations terrify me. From a psychology standpoint I think the fear is stemmed from us not being able to understand what is going on. The thought of stumbling across this while scanning a shortwave radio at night while alone really freaks me out. It's just so bizarre, our brains cant decipher what the hell is going on and that creates fear.
@weakestbutterscotchenjoyer2 жыл бұрын
what's creepiest about this, is how it's all standard procedure, how effortlessly it is for the opposition to code messages, how endlessly it broadcast, we get just a peak. what is probably happening is very mundane but when the imagination gets running, it does take off.

@freedomgundam952 жыл бұрын
It says "Ende" which means End (of recording) in german. This was a Polish shortwave numbers station carried out by Polish government intelligence in the 1950's, with the general end of transmission around 1998. The reason it's german is because the morse-to-speech machine is an East-German STASI "Sprachmaschine"
