I have a theory of mine that beauty follows from functionality. Or usefulness. Or whatever that property is. Like physical theory is beautiful if it is most useful. But sometimes cause and effect gets confused and people say that beauty defines usefulness of a theory. That is sad for me because those people lost their hope of understanding reality.

Building the honey farm in the Overworld is actually optimal. It would produce items faster in the Nether, but the bees wouldn't be able to get any sleep, which would be very sad and heavily outweigh the increased rates.

Looks great! The ability to switch between honeycomb and honey with such ease, and not having to fill up a truckload of dispensers with glass bottles also looks really nice. The most important rule in art is the rule of thirds. I’d look it up for some pictures and a proper explanation but* it’s very intuitive. It applies to any architecture. Secondly try to be intentional with where you are drawing the eye. Beyond that just do anything and chalk imperfections up to being your unique style

I have an idea for a honey setup you could theoretically use for bottles and shears. This wouldn’t require filled dispensers of bottles, rather a central storage. Using the comparator setup to unlock a hopper running into the dispenser for the shears on top, then run a hopper line over the top to disperse the shears or bottles through the system. The same circuit could unlock a hopper below the dispenser to suck the shears back out once they were dispensed once, at which point they would be recycled in the system. Might be a bit tricky to tile it (I think two block wide tiles), but could work to allow for both honey bottle collection and comb collection.

I recently designed my honey farm, I think I haven’t seen a same design yet. I let a hopper mine cart carrying a stack of bottles, moving across all the hoppers feeding into the dispenser. In the end it activates all the dispensers twice, method is an observer detecting tripwire hook passes by the mine cart. Then the hopper mine cart drops down, collecting everything and loops back to the beginning, an item filter takes only honey bottles out, each grab send a signal pause, activate a dropper on the bottom, send a glass bottle onto the rails, and the hopper mine cart will pick it up on its next route. I tested it, seems pretty reliable . I guess it’s the most simple one yet as I know…
@ChrisVickeryinajar
@ChrisVickeryinajar Жыл бұрын
You can just dispense the honey bottle and it drops as an item and gets picked up by the hopper. Similarly, if you dispense an empty bottle while the hive isn't full then it also drops as an item and is picked up by the hopper. You can chain them together in a loop for a dead simple day 1 honey farm, throw it on the nether roof for no day night cycle and the rates are honestly pretty amazing.

When farming bee nests, I always have light near the saplings so that they can grow at night, and then I simply use the farm at night only, so that I don't have yo worry about bees exiting the nests immediately- I also make a large farm so I don't have to use bonemeal, it's actually pretty fast (assuming you have enough trees), of course it's only really necessary when you need more bees quick.

I prefer putting 4 nests (or hives) around one flowering azalea leaf block, with 15 bees per such setup and some vines or the like in there to reduce performance burden (entity collisions), the extra 3 bees is for about 33% more items but 12 is easier to get in. One obvious downside is that you can't turn off this sort of design, since you need the vines to eliminate entity collisions, but you could just forgo that part and use fencegates instead if you put some mental effort into it- that would make it even harder to put the extra 3 bees in though, so you'd probably just use 12 bees and have ≈30 second periods of time when no bees are collecting pollen (the exact amount of time it takes for them to collect pollen) since they spend 4 times that amount of time (2 minutes) in the hive making honey, hence why 3 extra bees for every 4 hives works out so well as long as all 4 hives share one pollination space. I spent a lot of time obsessing about how to improve the horribly underdeveloped bee farm designs some months ago, and was surprised by just how little thought went into current popular designs...

I am tempted to rework the output part of your farm so I can upgrade it, I bet the rates would be crazy.
