El Hombre Negro they may have had all those running backs there at the same time..but none of them did more than Darren McFadden, Felix Jones and Peyton Hillis IN ONE SEASON...yea there were a bunch of big names at schools at the same time but Frank Gore had like 500 yards that season...just because they were all there, doesn’t mean they put up more stats than the Razorback backfield..they did more work in that season than anybody ever has collectively

@@heatherphillips5983 top tier? The Hogs defenses between 2004 and 2007 only cracked the top 25 nationally once in 2006 at 24th. Nutt's last season in 2007 the Hogs the #13 highest scoring offense in the nation. The issue was they never had a great QB under Nutt outside of Matt Jones (before the trio).

For one of the greatest backfields of all time, all of them were pretty much one year wonders in the NFL. Now McFadden did good last year behind Dallas's unfair OL blocking, but had one 1000 yard season in 7 injury plagued years prior. Felix Jones was never an every game starter and only started half the games he played in during a season once. He had one decent year, the rest was backup. Peyton Hillis had the one year flash (and Madden cover), then dissappeared ino the night. However I got more respect for him because he was not only just a 7th round pick, nobody really expected anything more than a support role from him.

I do, but you don't understand just how great these guys were back then. I didn't expect them to be Thurman Thomas and Barry Sanders, but damn 2 were one year wonders and the third never amounted to anything. I'm an LSU fan so just this century I know how many productive NFL RBs we have produced, but it's just crazy that Arkansas didn't get one NFL beast out of that lot
@ryanexsus
@ryanexsus 8 жыл бұрын
8MoneyIzmyMission8 I played against Mcfadden in high school, and one of my best friends Nate Garner played tackle on the teams with Peyton and Felix. Running backs in the NFL have about a four year window. And with most teams going pass happy since you can't touch a receiver going over the middle teams don't utilize their running backs in a good way in my opinion. Mcfadden ended up in Oakland which is where dreams go to die. He got battered and beaten the entire time he was there because of the shitty O line he had to work with. Felix Jones played great with his four year window returning kicks and whatnot. Hillis got lucky and had an offensive coordinator at Cleveland that was prepared to use him to his full potential, although injuries are what allowed him to get to play in the first place. These guys gave everything they had to the game.

I agree partially, but McFadden has had a good pro career. Has he been elite? No. Has he been even great? Not much. However, he has far exceeded the NFL RB life span and he is still going. Again, not saying he has been a great one, but he has been productive and I certainly wouldn't say he was a one year wonder. Just an average to good NFL running back. You are talking the best of the best, and let's be honest, he didn't have much of a chance during his "prime" pro years with the Raiders. I am surprised he is even walking to be honest. Especially a RB like McFadden. Barry Sanders was great on a bad team because he was a different style RB. The dude was a shifty, never take a clean hit type of RB. McFadden is straight ahead, one cut and go. Great if you have a good OL, terrible on your body if you don't. Hell, even Barry Sanders saw the writing on the wall and got out while he could still walk.

The University should bring him back in some kind of recruiting / Developmental Role, he genuinely loves the state and school and could do well. I Just Hope Bielema Doesn't Wreck His Motorcycle with his Side Piece on the Back anytime soon, because we Hog Fans Know how it feels to have everything that has been built up the past few years come crashing down in one Epic Fail of John Smith's 4-8 Season Followed By a SEC Winless Streak From Coach B's First and second Seasons. You are simply not going to find a third best back with over 2,000 career yards from scrimmage and 23 career TD's. Not gonna happen. And Michael Smith was the fourth best in 2006 and 2007 and had a 1,000 yard season in 2008.

@hoggybones
@hoggybones 7 жыл бұрын
Cecil Bob-Grey no pretty sure this trio beats those 3 by a mile in college. Montee Ball got all of the carries until he left, white and Gordon were feature backs. Then they split carries after ball left and each rushed for 1000 yards for one year. If your just saying that because they’re better nfl players, it’s not true for college. These guys were way more exciting and brought so much more to the program than what those Wisconsin guys did. Have a feeling your just saying that bc of their nfl careers. They were never a trio.
