Another great video of a 1/2 ton pickup doing the "big boy's" work. Applause to the video!
@AndreasFjord11 жыл бұрын
The reason it was not a Ford, is because the guy who helped had a Chevrolet. If he had a Ford, he would still have helped him. As the top comment says, it is not about what truck you have, it is about being able to use it, and help other people if they are stuck. Plus when it comes down to it, it is the tires that matters.

I agree.Tonight i was driving home from work and a guy flagged me down.He said he ran out of gas and when he pulled over he slid off the road. so i told him to hop in and we went down the road to the gas station,i bought him 5 gallons of gas then headed back.When we got there i got the gas in his chevy and pulled him out. Now when it was all said and done he shook my hand and said thank you. Now i could have said that's a chevy for ya but i didnt because i know all American trucks are damn good.

Dade Dooley Respectable. I'm a Bowtie guy myself but Ford and Chevy especially make great trucks. Dodge would too if they could make quality components to compliment their huge motors lol. At the end of the day they're all great vehicles and it usually depends on what you grew up with.
@williamadams977410 жыл бұрын
For the guy talking about the Hummer H1 All Hummers are made by GM so they are basically Chevys. And you cant do shit with a hummer H1 if you get more than a mile away from any gas station.

I own this pickup truck and I am a truck driver. The Avalanche was basically giving it a tug. The semi truck was doing 99% of the work. The best way to clear that is to carry bricks with you and run them over. A lot easier and safer than the tug of war test. cool video.
@zerocool2121217 жыл бұрын
lol carry bricks with you, you cant be serious if your going to carry something carry chains, or a snatch strap/kinetic rope.
@josephanderson35516 жыл бұрын
Bricks work great, the are cheap and easy to use. Chain is less efficient, expensive and a pain in the ass to put away. When I was broke, and the transfer case was stuck in 2X on my old Dodge, I used a 2x10 with shingles nailed to it. Kept in in the box through the winter. If get stuck in shit a cavalier could make it through with that pos, but my 'snow board' always got me through.

Very tricky pulling, specially with the traffic, we've had to pull out many trucks with our avalanche and it doesn't suprise me that its a good truck for doing so.

with a tow strap you can leave a bit of slack then jerk it which stretches the strap, then "pops" out the stuck vehicle
@Cumminsturbo20514 жыл бұрын
Chain is good, but the metal can get weak if it gets really cold, thats why they say you should use a rope or a strap. Still a good vid. +1 for chevy

2.7 ton 1500 5.3L truck pulling a semi of course it wont have as much traction or weight as that F-250 or 350 in that video, also its pulling it sideways not straight and is pulling on a spot that hasent been driven on either. So keep on saying stuff about that ford how impressive it was but just wait until theres a video of an even heavier stronger 4 ton 8.1L in the future doing this then we will just sit back and watch you delete your comments acting like you never said a word.

Nice. That would have made a difference. I should have been more specific, sorry, I was referring to the rig. Towards the end when you could see it's driving wheels it looked like only the front pair were driving, as if the power divider to the back axles was not locked (or was not lockable).

@garamanth15 жыл бұрын
Did that thing have a locking power divider? It didn't look like the back bogie was doing any driving. Cross axle locks either??? It may not have made much difference, but then again...
@DirTyOhGee14 жыл бұрын
Tow straps are good also, seems like you would need a fairly hefty rope to pull trucks.
@capesquirt14 жыл бұрын
Why didn't the guy in the rig engage the power divider and diff locks? He was only spinning one wheel a side. Every ten wheel truck I have ever seen has the diff lock to send power to all the rear wheels... It helps quite a bit....

I would have given up a long time ago. I've tried this with a mitsubishi pajero and its not easey, snow in front of the semi tires is really hard to pull through. The combined stoppingpower is easily greater that the friction any truck will have in snow trying to pull the semi. At least I would have dug out some snow to get the semi roling. Good job this vid though.

they dont call it a 1/2 ton cause of the vehicle weight, its called that cause it can tow a half a ton (1000 lbs)...one ton trucks can tow up to 2000 lbs.
@vivillager3 жыл бұрын
I don't think that vehicles are known as half-tons or one-tons as to the limit of what they can tow. Half-otns can tow far more than 1,000 lbs, and let's not get started on one-tons. My Chevy Impala tows over 3,000 lbs, but that doesn't make my Impala a one-and-a-half-ton.

Where are the chains on the semi? Having chains would have prevented that I know. Last winter my dad got his Kenworth stuck in slightly deeper snow than that,he backed up a wee bit,put the chains on,flipped the switch to lock the diffs and off we went..no need for any pickup to "rescue" us or a loader to get us unstuck.

When the video cut off u no a ford came down the street and hooked up to the chevy and the big truck and pulled them all to safety
@phattacorider15 жыл бұрын
@ c8muells It really depends on a lot of factors: chasis type, drivetrain, engine, ride height, power, ground (dirt or asphalt), and most importantly, the driver's knowledge of keeping the tires stuck to the ground without slipping. 4x4 is the biggest advantage along with having the biggest chasis and enough power to move another vehicle while inhibiting tire slip. Once you slip, it's all over. But to me, truck pulls are stupid. They don't prove strength, quality, durability, or reliability.
