Great Progress, I admire your patience. My last ship build was a 1:200 MO like you built last year. Of course I started in 2015, stopped for 5 years, then restarted and finished during COVID.

That is some clean work! Well I think it's a real challenge building a Titanic model, since it's such a well known ship and in 1/200 scale you can really go to town with the details. Your work is simply stunning! Thanks for sharing.

Love watching the progress! I built a 1/400 scale Titanic about 20 years ago and I would love to take on the challenge of doing this amazing Trumpeter model. I honestly don’t know if I’d be up for it! Lol. There is so much cool detail I was aware of when I was working on mine that could have never been attempted at that scale. You can certainly do it now with this model. Beautiful job so far!

Looking great! That section of superstructure really starts to change the look of the model. Like watching a high rise go up. Lots of ground level work then it finally starts going vertical. I ordered a shirt on your first day (lucky order #7!). I love it! Fits great and it's a good quality material. And I got candy and a nice note (thanks Nora!).

I will say one thing, you've always been a detail guy, but on this build, you have not only jumped to a new level. You have excelled at it. Maybe it is the Nora effect or just experience. I am extremely impressed! People talk about doing museum quality builds as a figure of vision for their skill level. You my friend, have achieved that standard of excellence. Not that I am qualified to judge based on my level of talent. Your killing it buddy! Great job!!

I have found that if you heat distorted parts to about 40 deg c and then instal them with your glue and a bit of weight that go back to the correct shape much easier.

Looking fantastic Ben, btw love the coffee mugs, Ill definitely be getting one of those, I also receive a lot of comments on the shirt I got from you guys, and just an idea I want to throw at you about the shirts, the color teal green with the white H & W logo would be a nice representation of the Irish who built the Titanic. Btw I also sent an email for you guys. 😜👍👍

Any chance you guys have plans to do some more of the clear window sets? Seems like those of us who couldn’t afford to begin the build when the kit was first released have missed out on a lot of extra parts that would be fantastic to have available. Cheers

Will you be addressing the apparent gaps between the deck and the walls along the bottom? The walls are flush fore and aft, but they look to be "floating" in the middle. Love the details! Would those bathroom/bed room windows have had curtains or blinds for privacy?

That’s where the instructions say they go. But I agree, they look “low” compared to the door handles. But the door handles appear to be in the middle of the wall. And that’s not right either…. So I don’t know.

@@TheMidwestModelShop I'm just comparing these Titanic videos to the Missouri ones, that's all. There was far more detailed model making in those. You used to show entire parts being built over the length of a video, now it seems to be dominated by commentary. I would much rather see parts being built and fitted, and I reckon the vast majority here would too. 👍👍
@TheMidwestModelShop
@TheMidwestModelShop 2 жыл бұрын
Oliver this ship is nothing like the Missouri. It’s just a bunch of big parts that require basic assembly. In the next episode (just for you) I’m going to demonstrate gluing windows into their positions. Because that’s all the assembly there is. And you want to see that. I demonstrated installing the deck fittings in the well deck recently. That is 95% of the assembly process of this kit 🤷🏻‍♂️As the build progresses, and there items of note, I’ll demo them. My build will require much more commentary because I have to design the lighting system to work with the PE interiors. Bottom line, this build series just may not be of interest to you. The next build is a warship and we will have those steps again.
