It's "overhyped" because it added a new strongest weapon to minecraft, and you don't need a cartographer to find them, u can just pie ray. It is very much useable in an actual fight, it is a weapon with a steep learning curve but a high skill cap, which is exactly what the game needed. The trial chambers have become THE META for getting notch apples, but, I do agree with u that the pale garden sucked. I suppose for people who aren't as "modern pvp oriented" as I am it can seem unimportant.
