I run Proline - 2-stage 1.0" Foam Inserts in all my Injora - Grey Stamped Steel Beadlock Wheels on my modified FMS - FCX24 K5 Blazer. I glue the two inserts together so the do not shift inside the tires & I do not run my beadlock wheels vented. Makes them much better for side hilling & do not roll the front tires while steering tightly. I like to run JConcepts - Rupures 63mm in green compound, Injora - Comp Pins 55mm in S5 compound, Injora - Swamp Stompers 58mm in S5 compound, & OGRC - Crawler Tires 55mm (Hyrax clones) in super sticky compound on my FCX24 K5 Blazer. But I would never ever run without tire inserts in my tires to reduce traction.

RC4WD Beadlocks and BFGoodrich KT3 tires on my C10. Mine hold pressure when completely locked down. It's like running a real tire in low pressure mode with no foams. I like how they deform over rocks and, to me, they seem to have better grip without than with foams.

Awesome, glad to hear. I have been hearing good things on the BFG KT3 and KM3 tires.

Cool, very tippy toed crawling, without foams or air filled ones, l love your ideas, i don't own a rc truck, but maybe i will, just keep teaching the rc world, some people will never get bored anymore, but now i'm see things more clearly, a very good climb.

@Glenn J Thompson It's pretty steep sidehill. Even my Low CG belly dragger (1/10 scale) has difficulty in consistently pulling this off. You should definitely look into picking on up. They are a lot of fun. And thanks for checking out my videos.

I’ve been running the stock RC4WD foams in the rear. In the front I cut some CI micro foams in the front with good results. Works better for side hilling than the stock tires & wheels with no foams. I also vent my wheels.
@BigSungHobbies4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the confirmation. That is my current plan as well. With stock foams, the front is a bit too stiff, so I have CI micro foams on order.

Great video. My C10 runs no foams in the 4 Thornbirds on beadlocks. I'll give up a bit of steering for the grip since they aren't a tall sidewall. Deadbolt all foam in the taller tires.
@BigSungHobbies4 жыл бұрын
In most cases, since SCX24 so light, even the softer compound has enough structure to hold on C10, and I can definitely see running with no foams. I ran without foams on the front for a long time. The only issue was on extreme sidehilling the front tire gave in too much and started to either slip and/or give in to the point that it will tip over. For my case, a bit of foams (even the softer version) will work better. But like anything it is really dependent on the tires and trails that you run on. Thanks for your input.

Currently running the Injora tires with foams front no faoms Rear non vented yet… im potentially gonna vent the rear for my purpose because of needing more grip on full droop
@BigSungHobbies3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I run all my tires vented. I ran them initially without foams. As tires broke in I noticed that the give was too much, and adding the CI foams really helped with extreme sidehilling.
@kreaturr4 жыл бұрын
How heavy was your rig in these tests? My C10 is weighing in at ~400g and vented with no foams produces only a little deformation when under stress (sidehilling, etc). I've tried this with RC4WD thornbirds and KR3s. I'm considering some foams in front, as I've noticed the deformation you showed in no foams sidehiling -- but agree, the foams that come with the RC4WD tires seems a lot. I can't figure out if it's the lack of foams or steering servo weakness that is contributing here!
@BigSungHobbies4 жыл бұрын
My C10 weighs 292g, and my tires are vented. The sidehill here is pretty steep, so all the weight is going to 1 of the front tires, and thus you can notice excessive deformation. The CI micro foams are supposed to be much softer than RC4WD stock foams, so I think it will be a good balance between no foams vs. stock foams.

I want to run my front tires without foames, what do you think about drilling holes into the wheels, that the air gets out and in (same wheel/ tire setup)
@BigSungHobbies4 жыл бұрын
I ran my front tires without foams for quite a while, but as the tires started to break in, I noticed that it started to give in way a bit too much especially on sidehilling. I prefer having soft foams like the CI micro. I always vent my tires.
@Bucks104 жыл бұрын
And how do you vent them?
@BigSungHobbies4 жыл бұрын
The easiest way is to use solder with pointed tip. Warm it up, then poke 2 holes on the opposite side. Make sure to poke the tire, and not the thread itself. The hole doesn't have to be big.
@modzilla744 жыл бұрын
What about foams in the front and no foams in the back?
@BigSungHobbies4 жыл бұрын
I found that on steep climbs, you don't want the rear tire to give in and thus lifting the front end. Most comp truck runs softer front and firmer rear for that reason. You really want the front end to give and start grabbing to pull you up. But SCX24 is so light, and the tire compound is much firmer in comparison to 1/10 scale...it will be interesting to test out.
@BigSungHobbies4 жыл бұрын
@Zachary As much as I love the RC4WD stamped steel beadlock wheels, it added 44g to the rig. I am looking to lower the overall weight, so I will be testing MT Hobbies 3d printed wheels shortly. My initial guess is that it will shave off ~25g, and perform as well, but we shall see.
@modzilla744 жыл бұрын
@@BigSungHobbies I guess for me , it's always an issue of wanting more grip. And to limit the amount of available grip u have seams counter productive. But I do see the reasoning behind your theory from your perspective as well. I guess it's a choice of what u want more of. I'm trying to tune my scx24 as well. And I'm still trying to get all the traction that's possible. GL.
@BigSungHobbies4 жыл бұрын
@Zachary Will do. It's being shipped out from Canada, so hoping that it will arrive in few days. I have been dieing to test them out.
@BigSungHobbies4 жыл бұрын
@@modzilla74 Hehe, it's all about testing your theories and finding what works for you. That's the beauty of this hobby. But keep in mind that on steep climbs, the big chunk of grip comes from the front tires. The rear tires have a tendency as it rotate to push the front tires away from the plane/field thus you get the flipping backward. Simple way of visualizing it is if you hold your phone say at 60 degrees, and if you push down on the bottom of the phone, the top portion will become more vertical (bigger than 60 degree angle), but if you push down on the top of the phone, it has the effect of lowering the angle (less than 60 degree angle). Tires are doing the same thing. Another reason, people want to add overdrive, to get that additional pull on the front. Just something to think about.

@@BigSungHobbies ohh right from only running them in the rear correct? what foams do you run? and have you seen the full aluminum/cnc roller they have on ebay for the scx24 thats $200?? not sure if the metal on the high side of the rig would be a downside but it sure is pretty
@BigSungHobbies3 жыл бұрын
I actually run the soft micro CI foams on the front, and stock foams in the rear. The CI foam is pretty wide, so I cut it in half and use them on the front. Since there are 2 pieces, it allows me to use it on 2 rigs. I have not really looked into the aluminum/cnc roller yet, but might check it out.

What’s your thoughts cutting the foams on a micro rc? Would it behave similarly to a 1/10 scale foam?
@BigSungHobbies4 жыл бұрын
I thought about cutting the stock RC4WD foams. I think it will definitely help. But since I decided to go with softer CI foams, that plan has taken a back step. The foam was so cheap at $2.99, I figured minus well.
@rekik664 жыл бұрын
@@BigSungHobbies for $2.99? I would have done the same. Haha! Even mix and match them. Did you see that Treal came out with an overdrive option?
@BigSungHobbies4 жыл бұрын
Yup, for $2.99 it was definitely no brainer. I plan to install the soft foams just on the front, and keep the RC4WD stock foams on the rear. As for Treal overdrive, I just got them. I can't wait to install and test it out.
