Appreciate the demo. Camera work was just fine, a little too good since I'm a bit jealous of your build lol. I'm gonna try my new crawler all terrain tires with foams now I think...my scx24 gladiator does weigh quite a bit and does have a slightly longer wheelbase so I'm sure I will get a little bit of side tread where needed but without too much roll over 🤔 ... Appreciate the advice and awesome demo spot!

Thanks hope it helps. My test course has actually gotten quite a bit bigger over the yrs. The Gladiator is a little beat out of the box compared to the other stock scx24s so I’m sure you can get it dialed in to your liking. 👊🙂

I use crawler innovations foam, they also have firm . I'm using the soft in my C10, I only got the brass knuckles and front dift cover , and aluminum bead lock rims. Performs very well, no more weight needed . Great video appreciate you sharing . I'll be watching more

Great comparison video. I run no foam in my C10 with Thornbirds on Shaka Hobbies 3 piece beadlocks. I do get forward push when turning, but they grip so well because they're such a shorter sidewall. Give and take in all things.

Good video..i run my rc4wd tsl boggers with foams in the front but none in the rear, vented on rc4wd stamped steel beadlocks. I think this helps because the rear of my rig is light so having no foams in the rear help but having foams in the front help steering..i also have rc4wd Mackey Thompson Baja claw on treal weighted wheels with foams in all 4 as a second set.. my next setup will be rc4wd mud slingers and scrambler with foams left in because they are a bigger sidewall tire

I vented my RC4WD Rock Creepers while keeping the foams installed, It's a good middle ground between conforming to the surface more easily and avoiding complete deformation.

👍Nice test, I bet on a stock rig with no added weigh no foams may work better.
@TJthercGuy4 жыл бұрын
Thank man! 🍻 For sure stock weight would do better with no foams for the most part unless the full rigs weight is on 1 tire. I tried it when I first got the tires but never even thought to film it then. 👊😅

In my redcat gen 8 I've taken the foams out to see, and they definitely folded over and eventually went flat even with the hole sealed and headlocks as tight as they could go. I trimmed up the foams because they'd get too hard when it was cold. Best bet is to buy the softest foam you can
@TJthercGuy4 жыл бұрын
@@momolovesyou9969 thanks man! 👊🙂 That’s true for harder/stiffer redcat tires yeah but for most of softer higher end tires it’s actually not always the case. I’ve had gen8/7 tires and foams so can honestly say redcat just literally has some of the worst foams on the market imo. No other foams ive had get hard as a rock when it gets cold like red cats. So it’s best to tune your foams depending on your rigs weight. If you get to soft of a foam for your build the tires will also fold and go flat to. 🍻✌️😃
@momolovesyou99694 жыл бұрын
@@TJthercGuy definitely makes sense about having too soft of foam. And I agree the stock foams for redcat are bad, they get hard as a rock.

Um... Low pressure tires are VERY common in full scale off roading. Letting air out of your tires is literally the first thing you do when off road. Especially for crawling or mudding because having lower tire pressure makes the contact patch of the tire the largest it can be providing it with the most grip. If you are trail riding or high speed baja/rally then no you still want a firm tire but personally, I'd just pick a better line if your that worried about tipping. I run no foams, unvented, on bead lock tires with S3 compound, uber soft but digs into everything. I say unvented because I've not poked holes in them and I'm pretty sure the rim is air tight. I haven't noticed any water in them either
@TJthercGuy2 жыл бұрын
I think you missed the point. 😄 Low pressure aka soft foams yes but you wouldn’t run a tires completely flat like I’ve seen so many people do especially back when I did this old video. Water in the tires or foam isn’t a big deal ether because micro foams are really cheap and despite what people think they don’t rot as soon as they get a bit of water in them so why stress over it. Now as for sealed tires they suck for performance because the air pressure is constantly changing and unlike a car or bike tire you can’t just change the pressure when ever needed so the grip is inconsistent and the tires can collapse when they get cold enough or with big altitude changes that’s just how physics work. That’s is why I run vented with foam especially when comping. ✌️🙂

Ironically in 1:1 we use 20+- psi without beadlocks. Those guys go down to 10 psi. So yeah not exactly flat but pretty darn close. Wish our 1:24s would react the same way
@TJthercGuy3 жыл бұрын
Right same here even in 1/10th scale air filled tires just don’t seem to act the same as in 1:1 scale.

Are those vented rims ??... I have non vented aluminum rims and run no foam and it's perfect doesn't forld like yours
@TJthercGuy3 жыл бұрын
No the kinetic wheels are not vented and there’s no holes in the tires. But without being vented the air pressure in the tires changes depending on temperature and altitude to.✌️🙂

Interesting I run the thornbird no foam and don't have an issue like u ..but I might not have as much weight on my frame
@TJthercGuy3 жыл бұрын
@@ryanwilliams3157 True and Rc4wd molds are not always the same one of my baja claws came to with one tire that was way to thick and warped so it wouldn’t mount on the wheels I have so Rc4wd sent me a new tire and it popped right on. Don’t have any added weight on the chassis but it does have mil-stone wideners, brass knuckles and brass diff covers. I run crawler innovations lil’ nova soft foams on vented wheels on my other rigs. I can’t bring myself to drill the kinetic wheels. The tires conform almost like there’s no foam but don’t roll over or bounce as much so they handle more like a 1/10th scale then. 👊😃
