FTP was indicted and shut down by the DOJ. Turns out they did not have the player funds segregated so no one got any of their bankrolls off the site (some players with $100K+, a few with millions). So far every 'deal' attempt in which other companies wanted to buy them out has fallen through, our last hope right now is that Pokerstars might buy Full Tilt Poker in a deal with DOJ but it's taking months and no one knows for sure.

you just can't understand that 0.5/1 and 500/1k is still poker. there are 5 cards on board and 4 dealt. there are allin and fold. a few buttons actually but the decisions they made are on another level. so if you play 50/100k blinds and the buy in 10millions you still have to 3bet 1.2m with 58o. they are making decisions based on blinds not amount of money that blind cost

This was when PLO was just started to be played and discovered as a mainstream game... isildur basically got to the top level of competition without any guide, all just learning the game himself intuitively (you could hardly find the sort of poker training advice you can now on poker let alone PLO) but PLO is a game of much smaller edges than NLHE.. it’s high variance but a good player can overcome this not only with accumulating a large sample size but also because the difference in skills levels between regulars in PLO is bigger than it is in NLHE where it’s much harder to find total fish these days. PLO has people that play in a few main fishy categories: 1 is as if the game was NLHE they overvalue hands and have no concept of relative hand strength and 2) pot manipulation in a game that you can’t just shove it all in but you often want to get it in to stomp out hands with equity, and 3) people that get monster under the bed syndrome with PLO simply because you have 3 cards - they can’t value bet thin and they are always polarized. There’s a few others but you get the idea

that's true. from my experience though, dealers won't want the player to lose unless they are being very obnoxious/rude and not tipping at all. if the player is nice and or tipping, then i don't know a single dealer that wouldn't want them to win. unfortunately, dealers have as much input of what cards come out as the player does with the cut card.

I find it funny how people really believe that they were playing real money. Full tilt was broke and stealing people's money, that was all pure marketing to get people to play online poker and think they can make money. These people are rich not because they play poker but because they get paid to act against other pros. You can't be a steady winner in poker, variance hits everyone along the rake in the long term, everyone.
@dru7132818 жыл бұрын
i don't wanna tell you that your wrong. I'm play in a state where online poker is permitted. you have to play within your bankroll and if your sitting and waiting to play good cards you will be a losing player most of the time. its a skill game and position is everything!
@NazZimou8 жыл бұрын
I played and still play poker for 6 years, i do read and learn about poker everyday. But based on a lot of players story, for example isildur in this video, he made from 2000$ to 1 million in 3 weeks of multi tabling. Tom dwan went from 50$ on his first deposit to playing high stakes in 9 months. And a lot of bullshit stories like that. In 2011, poker was easy but not the point of making such a big climb in stakes in short time. Plus, right after all these 'pros' made it, full tilt was going broke and stole all their players' money. And all of the sudden, tom dwan and all their pros like ivey and isildur went broke and disappeared from poker for years. That's why i find it suspicious.
@dru7132818 жыл бұрын
Nazim online is popping right now look up top online players from Nevada and new jersey. a lot of good players left poker is about skill in fact I have to balance from playing cash and tournament if you play both at once you really fall of track on certain transition one must do in each and also you become systematic playing too many tables at once which is why multitabling is not a good idea if your gonna transistion to live play
@NazZimou8 жыл бұрын
Are you reading what i wrote or you're just typing lol, i said i play poker since a long time and i study the game, this wasn't my point.
@dru7132818 жыл бұрын
Nazim I understand and I agree in the sense that multitabling is bad in the long run because live poker you are only able to play 1 game at a time the pros from online become impatient and overplay situations more often. I too am finding this problem with playing 2 tournaments and 3cash games including omaha at 1 time and I notice I am not able to remember every player and their betting patterns. also I notice I forget certain spots during the tournaments on when to get aggressive at different levels of play where is in cash I limp monsters to set traps and in tournaments it is essential you polarize your play in conjuction with your chip count and how many players are left. its just not possible to see them very much because unlike online you cannot have 20 tournaments in one 24 hour cycle. they are playing but you should search Daniel negraenu plays pokerstars new jersey and he will tell you the new online poker shows where you can see high level cash games all throughout the united stataes.

I agree that timing is a big factor (although it's invaluable to add "attitude" to timing--which you can do only in person). But with online poker, you can ENFORCE timing on yourself (or even make it random, using a timing device)--something that's much more difficult to do convincingly in person.

odds are not the only thing that affect a person's way of judging. if you play long enough with a person, you can tell when they like to make bets, how much they typically bet, and use those to reference to what they have. at such a high level of playing, players do not show much emotion when playing so it is not much different in person.
@25bananasaday11 жыл бұрын

@carlM1997 hey, since I can't answer you at your own comment (for some reason), I'll do it like this. But the thing is, antonius hasn't got 2 pair, he can only choose 2 cards from the 4 he has. So basicly he only got 10's, while isuldur has 9 7 (both in his hand). And there's only 3 cards from the board that you can use, so not like in holdem where all the cards matter.

After seeing Ivey's graph on Full Tilt, then his graph on Pokerstars afterwards, there is no way he wasn't cheating those games. He won 20 million without even a downswing visible, then his site gets shut down, and he gets literally destroyed on other sites, I'm talking dismantled, straight down graph for millions.

true, but at higher amounts=higher level of play. also, with BJ dealers, it's really easy to tell because they weren't trained to keep a straight face. I myself am a table games dealer, and i personally want the players to win. the more they win, the more they will typically tip.

Even in live poker, by far the most tells are from betsize and timeing anyways, which you can still use online. But the biggest reason why they play online is the speed I think, you go through a far greater number of hands.

Yes it's always been this way... Ranges.. And knowledge of how aggressive, tight, or drunk an online player is. Low limit NL you can catch semi-good young players trying to act weak with monsters, and act strong with a bluff... The biggest catcher in NL back in the poker boom days is players went crazy with open straight and flush draws... Because that was the #1 take out of Super Systems, but Doyle was doing it before anybody else could catch on. He invented the power move of a semi-bluff. Or basically invented the semi-bluff... When it was very common to just call with draws.
