Hello all, this is a video detailing the process of scratch building a 1/3 Scale Knight Twister Imperial Biplane. This project took the course of two years to build, due to some interruptions between.
The aircraft was originally going to be powered by a Super Tigre 3250 but during the build that was switched to a Valley View RC 40cc twin gasoline engine.
There were also some other minor adjustment during the build that can be noticed. The elevator servos were moved back by the tail to shorten the control linkages. The landing gear was moved forward approx. 1 inch. This was a design change from when the 1/2A version was built in an effort to prevent nose overs.
The model was taken to two static displays contacts around the Columbus, Ohio area after completion. The first one was the Westerville show, it was entered in Large Sport Aircraft (Scale). At this show it won 1st place in its class, and also Best of Show Overall. A great honor.
The 2nd show that it was taken to was the Lancaster, Ohio static show. In this show, the airplane won Best of Show Overall. It was during this show that its 1/2A counterpart was also put on display with it.
The 1/2A counter part was also feature in the July 2003 issue of Model Aviation in the readers submission page.
As of August 16, 2018 the model has yet to have a maiden flight. More pictures and video will come when this happens.
Thank you for watching.
