In this video we are delivering a 1/4 cord load generated by one of my Facebook marketplace listings. Selling this quantity has proven to be popular and profitable!

@oldguyfirewood9 ай бұрын
Yeah I normally have weight on the back of my tractor. I was on a little bit of an incline and that’s what caused the problem. If you run a front end loader or forks the first thing you learn is to be ready to drop your load to the ground when you feel that tip coming!
@backyardfirewood98529 ай бұрын
$150 for a 1/4 cord! DANG OGF!!! You are the man! I just raised my price to $150 for a 1/3 cord... But, for folks close by (5 miles or so) I sell 1/6 (~20 cu-ft) for $100... I have a lot of neighborhoods around so that's why I started doing that... Congrats on the subscribers. I'm hoping to go from 856 to 857 this year. I figure if I stay lazy in the content department I just might hit that goal! LOL
@oldguyfirewood9 ай бұрын
Hey Jason… happy New Year! At $100 for 1/6 cord you are generating the same $ per cord as I am! Affluent neighborhoods are the key. They want recreational wood and don’t want a huge stack to deal with.

Hey there Dick, an happy new year! Wishing you all the best in 2024! Congrats on hitting that 7,500 sub mark! Definitely an awesome milestone, an I’m glad to be part of it! Nice work on the delivery and running through the process of loading with the tote 🔥💯👍. Was thinking where you had the 3pt forks on the back, for some quick ballast perhaps you could have backed up an quickly picked another full tote on the rear and would keep the tractor grounded for time being :). Anyways thanks for having us over, always enjoy my visit to your place! Take good care! Andrew from NB :)
@oldguyfirewood9 ай бұрын
Hi Andrew. Thank you for watching. When moving full totes of green wood I’ll always put a tote of wood on the 3pt forks for counterweight. Since this tote was dry and not quite full I thought my loaded tires would be enough. I won’t make that mistake again!

Like the 1/4 cord, quick and easy and a nice price for you for the full cord! I haven’t tested it yet but it seems a lightly healed loose tossed or conveyor filled 275 tote is 1/4 cord. Already at 7.5, 10k subs right around the corner!
@oldguyfirewood9 ай бұрын
I think you’re right about the heaped conveyor filled 275 tote being 1/4 cord. I’m going to dump and stack one to make sure. I’m anxious to try your top hinged cut out tote front method too. I think that’s the answer for conveyor filled totes.

Hey Dick. This is such a great way to offer your customers the opportunity to buy what they need or what their budget will allow. When the second tote dropped that certainly isn't a nice feeling. I look at your way as a win win. Kenny
@oldguyfirewood9 ай бұрын
Hi Kenny. There are a lot of high tech jobs in the area. The younger crowd likes that amount of wood and they don’t blink at spending $150. Win/win!

Thanks Jimbo. It seems to be a popular package for the recreational wood burner. Win/Win!
@Growing-Our-Retirement9 ай бұрын
Happy New Year Dick! With all the dead ash trees up here in NJ/PA/NY we see full cords of wood still at around $250. delivered. Hardly pays to sell wood at that price. I sell a 4'x8' x 16 to 18 " for $100. but no delivery. I do have a good spot for a road side rack, that will improve the $ sales per cord.
@oldguyfirewood9 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching Larry. The 6’x4’ stack is a good amount of wood for the recreational wood burner. If they were to buy an equivalent amount in bundles they would spend over $300, so $150 is very appealing.

New to the channel. Great straight up vid. You mentioned upgrading your equipment. You appear to be pushing on some years as am I (63 years young). I would seriously consider a backhoe of some sort. I have a const. grade John Deere 110 TLB that is perfect IMHO. I made a wood splitter attachment for it and boy is that the life. You sit on the backhoe and split + dump directly into the tote for drying (randomly stacked). Not to mention you can pick the log up with the splitter for bucking into rounds. It isn't as fast as a dedicated splitter (1/3 slower I'd say but no added piece of equipment to maintain. Just something to ponder.

@@KZbinr-mc2el thanks for watching, commenting, and hopefully subscribing! I’m 75 and try to work smarter and not harder. Watch some of my videos on my Eastonmade 22-28 with box wedge and attached conveyor. It is a pretty effortless way to produce large amounts of firewood. I have a backhoe for my Kubota tractor, but find the front mounted grapple works better for moving logs. I hope you will check out some of my older videos!
