Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture. With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

The farmers relationship between father and son is always interesting. I agree with you analysis, he is a good teacher. When Zach pushes back on his Dads direction, it is always interesting. But it is the working respect that they have for eachother that makes it work. Zack loves his Dad, however, I would bet all the money in the world, Zack dad loves him more. :)

For your white mold you should try spraying WHEY. Yes the by-product of cheese making. It’s a two for one, you get excellent fungal control (any fungal disease) AND it’s a fantastic foliar feed. Although it’s not applicable for you it’s useable in organic production. We use in for orchard use for 20 years now. We get it free from a small cheese maker, it’s usually dumped by them so they are happy to get rid of it. It could absolutely replace all fungicides. We use it undiluted but in Australia they use it VERY diluted up to 4% and it still works well. Try it you’ll be amazed and get to your 60bu/ac at tighter spacing. Would pay for a drone sprayer in a couple of years especially since the product is free or free plus transport.

Zach, your going to transfer beans out of the bin to remove the convex crown after harvest.... Get enough out so the leg is clear with room for air flow at the top of the bin.... remember, there is enough green beans to create and high moisture environment at the peak of the bin.... You do not want mold starting in those beans, so let the bin run down to create a open ventilation air space.... PROUD OF Y'ALL 😅😊😅😊🎉🎉❤

I am always amazed farmers get cab corn/beans when there is technology to indicate the combine bin is full. The same here or if you think you are close climb and check how full the bin is. Cheap insurance even though someone has to climb the ladder. Anymore most of this are head slap events. Oh, one other thing is grain trailer unload doors open when someone starts to dump into the truck. Build a checklist and have the driver check the doors prior to taking the truck. Attention to detail. Old military saying "If you have time to do it over; you. have time to do it right the first time."
@MillennialFarmer
@MillennialFarmer 3 ай бұрын
Yes, the sensor goes off when the tank is full, but it varies by 15-20% because of the moisture content. Every load it different. Sometimes, it doesn't go off until the peak flows down and it's spilling on top of the cab. It's not as fail-proof as most people would think

After a few miles five police car suddenly converged all around me near an intersection. You know the drill! Out of the car!!! Hands on the roof! Shut up! Don't move! And bushier plants need the space to get the proper amount of sunlight. Done properly, spaced far enough apart, you can get the maximum yield per plant with the minimum cost. Planted closer together it will cost you more in seed and the plants will start producing much fewer seeds so you actually end up with a smaller yield.

Jim saved the day!! I guess you could even mess things up if you shut them down in the wrong order? Good to have Jim back. Especially since, ya know, he is, ah, unburdened by what has been!!! HAhahhahahahha!!!! Wish i lived in my/your country, I would order that shirt!!!

That is the hardest thing for me to understand. The main thing a farmer has against them is the weather. I don't understand when the weather is perfect for harvest. Why doesn't the farmer run balls out. He can rest after he is done with harvest. No lost from the weather, no extreme cleaning, no damage to equipment from the weather.... etc...etc...

I’ve always wondered about the risk of leaving equipment in the field overnight, although I imagine that the modern units have locking cabins, locking ignitions, traceable sensors and whatnot in terms of security and deterrence?

I think we get that white mold here on our backyard garden especially on broad leaf plants like melons and squash. Lets all get unburdened by what has been the recent past.
