This catch can Catches the oil blown back in the intake? I changed my coolant pipes and noticed small amts of oil on and in the intake plenum.
@den-tech-mods2 ай бұрын
@vannjunkin8041 yes it catches it before it gets to the intake and your valves most importantly

I have a 2011 XK 5.0 NA. Any tips on induction cleaning and oil? I was also using Castol edge, I am currently putting in Penzoil Ultra Platinum... the whole Jaguar oil spec thing is maddening.
@den-tech-mods2 ай бұрын
I would use the Castrol edge and put a catch can religious change at 5000

CREATING PART 2 AND 3 AS WE SPEAK ,IT WILL HELP YOU GUYS, MY WIFE IS EDITING IT

The trick to Jaguars specifically, and European luxury cars more broadly, is to figure out what the critical design defect is and correct it, and then half the stated intervals for maintenance (no, 16,000 mile oil change intervals are not good for the longevity of your car even if the book says so!). From there, it'll largely be regular maintenance (which *must* be done!) and many miles of happy motoring. In the case of the X-Types, it's the "sealed for life" transfer cases; the fluid change "procedure" that clever folks worked out is moderately terrifying to carry out, but if you do it in time they'll run a long long time (I had 165,000 on my first X-Type when I sold it and it was in good shape). In the case of pretty much every Jag and Land Rover with a supercharged V6 or V8, it's the coolant Y-pipes that catastrophically fail (and often take the engine down with 'em) and require removal of the supercharger to replace.

Hey man, thanks for your comment. Ive got a v6 supercharged fpace. Ive heard about the coolant pipes aswell but dont know much more. Ive gotten intakes and exhaust and tune so far. Im at 70k miles Do you think i should change them? which ones do i chagne them out with? thank you

@@therealcyrus I've seen too many horror stories online about them failing, including a guy in a Sportbrake owners' group whose failed at 84k and necessitated a full engine rebuild. So, I just had my dealer do mine on my XF Sportbrake at 80,000. $3,500, but I basically have a new cooling system; new water pump, thermostat, and new hoses and pipes (redesigned to be one piece instead of the two-piece ones that fail). I see guys online going with the aftermarket metal pipes, which seem like a good idea. But, I saw too many questions about fitment and which fittings to use etc., and I don't have a great space to undertake that scale of work. For me, the answer was money and dealer, and so far it seems to be good.
@vannjunkin80412 ай бұрын
@therealcyrus Change out the plastic y pipe in the front and the crossover pipe in the back. It is very worth researching, mine is not supercharged so I suspect mines easier, but very similar. I have a 2012 Landrover V8.

@@alwolschleger7242 Okay, thanks for the detailed reply. I decided to go ahead and purchase all the parts. Everything comes tomorrow and i will try and take this task on my self. Will gladly take any tips/ tricks if possible! Glad to hear about your sportbrake. Those are beautiful cars
@alwolschleger72422 ай бұрын
@@therealcyrus There are a couple of good write-ups on the procedure. I'd just be sure to read and understand before you're elbows deep and not sure what you've done. Biggest part of it seems to be the supercharger removal, which by all accounts is a real MF'er. Like I said, my trick was money and someone else's time, so can't say I have the firsthand on this one.
