I have 2 of these cars, a 91 and a 89,the 91 since new and Ive been mainly dayling it for the last 20 something years,the furthest Ive taken the 91 on trips was 1000 miles (round trip),they are not comfortable cars but it made it just fine but now after all these years i wouldn't attempt a long trip unless i had some good roadside assistance,lol. If i had no choice like moving to another city and i needed to drive the car i would take certain items with me like a distributor module (a must with these cars), a belt, maybe a couple of new injectors in case one decided to hang open etc,you drive it conservatively and it should make it fine. Love your videos man,you're a cool dude for sure.
@GearHead704
@GearHead704 8 ай бұрын
Yeah, it's going to the point where a lot of those items are necessary unfortunately. Man I love these cars though. And thanks man, it's great to hear you love the videos.

These cars are extremely reliable if they haven't been handled by wrong person. I have an 89 Lincoln mark vii LSC I drive daily 500 miles a week for the last 5 years. Only thing I've had to do was replace distributor, water pump and alternator when I first bought it. I got 100,000 reliable miles out of this vehicle and she still runs surprisingly well.
@dntlss
@dntlss 8 ай бұрын
They are very reliable,small block Ford engines are bulletproof as long as you take care of them but the majority of people that owned these cars just dogged them to oblivion,probably because they were the most requested senior graduation present back in the day and were driven by kids hammering on them all day long, heck, some people are still doing that with the few remaining examples left. Don't get me wrong, i like to "get on" my Mustangs once in a while but its not a habit or daily deal,i just enjoy driving them. Lincoln Mark 7s are freaking awesome,like the peppiness of the Mustang with the comfort of a nice sedan kinda like the Thunderbird,the best of both worlds,there is a forum i frequent and this guy has a Mark 7 but i dont think he drives it much,this thing is mint and restored,its all black inside and out and you could drop a ice cream on the intake and scoop it up and eat it, thats how clean it is, its a beauty.

While it's awesome to mod these cars, there is something to be said leaving a fox 🦊 in its pure stock form for drive ability reliability..seems like when u throw heads cam intake and other stuff at these cars they like to act up on top of being 30 to 40 plus years old now. I've wrestled for 5 years now to leave it stock or mod it. STOCK FOR THE WIN!!! Matt your car and vids are awesome and it was great meeting u at chocolate fox a few years back and talking about my 88lx 5.0 vert. Respect 🙏 💯

I can't argue with you at all! Stock is definitely a great way to go and I think in general you'll have less problems. I think that was in 2021 and I remember seeing your vert. Nice ride man! Thanks for the support.

Man I been daily driving my foxbody since I went to college, I took it on a 1300 mile round trip about 8 times during my time in college going back and forth from my school in West Palm and home a littel north of Atlanta. Car has Edelbrock Heads, Trick Flow intake, 24# injectors, B303 Cam, and I manaul swapped at a point between those years because the AOD went out. It really has been a great car to me, and was a decent road trip car for hauling my dorm stuff considering it is a hatch. 😎For everyone that begs to say you can't road trip them or drive them everyday, I'll disagree!

It's always something small thats for sure! Heck, thought I had mine all dialed in after I got the trans swapped, and then ironically enough the throw out bearing went bad and Matt down there ended up being the one that replaced it because I had no tools or anything down there lmao. Did make it farther than you did, I made it to Georgia almost to the Florida border.
