i really admire people who are brave enough to do the right thing when it’s frightening to do so. doing the right thing & being able to look in the mirror, knowing you did the right thing is more important than protecting greedy people/greedy companies. Neel, i applaud your efforts & also protecting the whistleblowers identities; i know it helps them feel safer about coming forward & that is essential. i’m American but if i were in the UK & could help with your cause i certainly would!! i know whatever happens going forward you will do the best for public safety regarding their ears ❤🙏🙂

My dear Neel, of course you do what's best for your patient! Silly requests for cosmetic changes to your procedures for our delight are best laughed at and ignored I will ask for one thing, though. If you can, would you please tell us what injuries are seen by ENTs after wax removal by the insufficiently trained? Without violating patient or doctor privacy, of course. These injuries are the crux of the issue you're championing, and I for one would like to know more. Not the name or location of the clinic where the injury occurred, just a medical description of what happened. Just how and what, if you will, not where or when. Please share what you can, when you can. I know you must be careful for legal reasons, but if a few ENTs were willing to share the stories of what they've seen, it should help your crusade for more training.

I have learned so much watching these videos. In my opinion, these laymen should be required to watch 25 hours of The Wax Whisperer videos.👍🏼😁 P.S. If you want to slow down the video you can do it from the tool bar in all YT videos. It's the little circular symbol (looks like a nut or a flower) in the upper right hand corner. Press that then where it says Playback Speed.

Hi Neel, what's the strangest thing in a ear that you have ever come across?
@bellarina Жыл бұрын
I keep getting stabbing my brain feeling pain even when my GP uses that usual tool to look in my ears... Tbh I have no idea what he does wrong, either touching the bony part or straight up jamming it into my ear drum?!? I have a bendy ear canal but as a serial cotton bud offender that also has an ear cam off of the internet to have a look (DO NOT DO THIS AT HOME, KIDS 😅), I have never given myself that pain, and I used to go at it in that lil ditch just below eardrum complete with pulling my ear more open because I have sweaty ears and sensory issues AND a long history of ear infections and pains as a kid 😓 ANYWAY My point is I cannot even self-inflict the pain my GP can whenever they check my ears... I cannot even imagine what one of these two-day techs could do. I would never go near other people's ears, yet I feel "more qualified" to go off and practise on family and friends than these two-day course participants without ear issues history and hours of Wax Whisperer videos watched. (I by no means feel qualified for anything lol just making a comparison of just how much I'd not trust those techs)

Doctor, may I ask a personal question ? I've been feeling "ghost itching" inside my ears. What I mean by this is the sensation of a tiny piece of dust or somethig inside my ear that's sligthly itchy, but nothing's there. I do wear my earphones a lot and I do occasionnaly use q-tips 😅(by twisting them not too far inside, and extremely slowly to "collect" the wax). This itchy sensation is fleeting but annoying, and it has happen more often these last months. What could it be and should I be worried ?
@heatherexcell3078 Жыл бұрын
I'm not an audiologist, but my guess would be that the skin in your ear canal is too dry. Dry skin is often itchy. When you use q-tips you can actually remove too much wax - the oils in earwax are the ear's natural moisturisers. And although it's counterintuitive, if your ears get sweaty when you use earbuds that can also make the skin too dry afterwards. Assuming you don't have a perforated eardrum or a ventilation tube, you could try using some medical grade olive oil - it's a good moisturiser for your ears.
@natinatyoutube Жыл бұрын
@@heatherexcell3078 makes perfect sense to me. Plus, I suffer from dry skin in general so your diagnosis makes even more sense. Hopefully I will find the medical grade olive oil somewhere. Thank you so much !
@dianneking3842 Жыл бұрын
I live in the US. What can we do that would help? Will it be ignored since we are not affected by it or will it even be taken into account? US audiologists have the status of physicians if they earn a doctoral degree in the field in order to become licensed and certified. That requires a four-year bachelor's degree followed by four years in a doctor of audiology program. Of course, a two day certification is totally ridiculous and ripe for lawsuits from possible damage. It would set off alarm bells from the FDA. Since the requirements differ between countries, will what we (Americans) say hold any weight?

It’s mind boggling that anyone asks for you to slow down the actions of the procedure. Seriously, you are giving medical care to a patient. While viewing it is enjoyable, your skill, expertise and attention to the patients safety is paramount. To the people asking you to slow down, here is what I have to say to: the world does Not revolve around you and your wishes. Get your head out of your bellybutton and learn how to be a decent human being. Thank you for letting me rant. I love your videos, thank you for bringing us along.

What do you recommend people use to clean their ears out on a regular basis? If cotton swabs are harmful, what else can people use?
@nibordiabla7493 Жыл бұрын
If you have normally functioning ears, you do not need to clean them. The ear is designed to be self cleaning. If you have an issue, say otalgia (ear pain), itching or a feeling of fullness in your ears you should go to a medical professional, i.e. your primary care doctor, ENT, or audiologist for assessment/ care/ cleaning. For situations like getting water stuck in your ear, you can lay down a warm towel, and lie your head down with bad ear directly on the warm towel. The warmth from the towel, plus gravity can help the water fall out of your ear naturally. If that does not work, then seek medical help. There is an old adage that doctors always say when it comes to cleaning your own ears, "Never use anything smaller than your elbow to clean the inside of your ears." So basically don't stick anything in your ears. I hope this helps.

At around 8 min. Pulling that stuff off looks so different from what we usually see in these videos Also do the forsepts that you use have teeth all the way across the contact surfaces ?? Or just the edges. If they do go all the way across instead of flat. That would be the reason for the tearing as you do extractions

I'm confused. Do we have keratin along our ear canals or does it develop as the skin migrates?
@hannahhadley8261 Жыл бұрын
As far as I understand, the dead skin (which makes up around 60% of ear wax) contains keratin. So, yes, we have some keratin in our ears, but it can also build up if you have an anatomical issue or an issue with the amount of dead skin in your earwax. Neel, please correct me if I'm wrong.
@heatherexcell3078 Жыл бұрын
Keratin is a protein that fills the very top layer of skin cells all over the body, including the skin lining our ear canals. On most of your body, these keratin-filled skin cells just fall away when they die and get replaced by the newer skin underneath, but because the ear canal is a cul-de-sac the skin has to migrate to the entrance before it falls away as part of your earwax. Normally the dead skin flakes off in microscopically small pieces, so you don't notice it happening. If the skin _doesn't_ migrate properly, then the keratin-filled dead skin builds up inside the ear canal until it forms a big plug. That's what happened to this patient.

But the whole thing with what’s going on with your health care altercation, or fight, whatever you wanna call it, I’m just gonna come right out & say it. When I watch your videos it relaxes me from all the bullshit of my day & so when I go & play the last 4 or 5 of your videos & now I gotta hear about drama in someone else’s life, its not my thing. I don’t like drama, I don’t like any of that high school bullshit cat fights. I’m just being honest in what I’m disappointed with the last 5 videos or so with the background stories. Your beating a dead horse, and I personally don’t wanna hear about that stuff. I know that you are extremely sensitive to criticism on your page, and I’m sorry if I’m coming off as mean, I’m just trying to let you know that I like the educational portion descriptions of the procedures at hand being an individual who has had ear issues since birth. I really hope you succeed in your fight, but maybe make a separate video for that platform so we can watch the usual videos with out all the earwax drama lol. I love ya Neel!❤
