I love your channel. I think you would be the one person to ask this question. The Douglas BTD Destroyer is a plane that is highly ignored in the modeling world. It's a cool looking plane and rare. I think its only been produced by one company in 1/72. This is a striking plane with unique features that I think modelers would really take to if it were available in 1/48 or 1/32.
@FlyingSModels5 ай бұрын
Thank you for the feedback. I agree with you on the Destroyer. I actually have a 1/32 one in the design process that had stalled. I need to get back on it as it is a good looking plane. Not sure how many folks would want one in 1/32 but I know at least 2 folks now :) Feel free to ping me through my website contact or facebook messenger if you want to know more about that one in the future.

I will be watching this build closely as i already have the Classic Airframes kit. A wing fold detail set is what i am after for my kit. Good luck Chad on the Gannet.

Excellent. The CA kit is a good one. I had it but got rid of it like an idiot several years back! Will keep you posted on the wing fold set.

Great looking kit, my personal vote of course would be fold the wings, one of the planes greatest features.

Wow! I have never worked with a kit that was entirely resin, nor have I even heard of this aircraft before. After watching this video, I’ll be looking for the new kit from resin 2 detail for a build someday in the future. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and working to keep interesting & somewhat obscure aircraft kits available and more up to date.

I'll certainly be keeping the community up to date on the progress of bringing the updated kit out. We always need to keep the more obscure planes available

hi. a great plane and yes she is so ugly she is pretty. I was at an air museum at the weekend in Northern Ireland where they are rebuilding one. very cool. I was looking for a 1:48 version and the process are crazy but as luck would have it I got a notification from airfix today saying they are releasing a 1:48 Gannet this year. that should be a great model to build. cheer.

Excellent. I bet he had some stories to tell about those experiences.

@@FlyingSModels Yes, he spoke a lot about this planes abilities alongside the complex gearing. The engineering was amazing apparently and it was a sensational wepons platform in the anti-submarine role. During the falklands war he was raging about the lack of airbornes early warning which the Gannet used to provide before it was de-commissioned.

@FlyingSModels3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, Resin2Detail backed out of the project so now I am working with a friend to continue the project. It's a little slower and we have been focusing on the 1/32 kit first but still plan to downsize to 1/48. Thank you for checking in.

I've got the 1/48 Scale Fairey Gannet ASW, the Classic Airframes version which I've for a number of years, and is pride of place in my Naval Aviation collection, or rather it did sit pride of place, but no longer, I got hit with campylobacter salmonella food poisoning, and because of my underlying health issues, I was put in hospital, while in hospital, my Wife wasn't allowed to visit, and so, to cope with the stress, she did a pre Christmas Spring clean, which included dusting down my Gannet, she only broke off the font Canopies, and then stood on them, and instead of keeping the broken bits, she threw them out, leaving me with a Ganner with no front Canopies
@FlyingSModels4 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear about both incidents. Sounds like you made it through the food poisoning better than the Gannet did. I'm not sure if anyone ever made vacuform replacements for the ASW and while I haven't compared to references yet, I'm not certain that the AEW windscreen/canopy was the same. I may have spares of the AEW that I can check.
