Except that is patently absurd. It can always get worse. We can always work to stop heating, so the future is less terrible. Government and business may do nothing, but are you going to do nothing as your world is stolen? We haven’t even tried a solution yet, and I’d rather try and fail. And when the stakes are this high, we can fight back because the systems they are sacrificing the world far are extremely vulnerable. Enough people, disrupting and obstructing, could bring it all down

It won’t matter anyway. The entire hypothesis is nonsense and the solution is even more impossible. Study for five minutes. The required industrialization will take to mine. All of the minerals necessary to make the machines necessary to do something and it won’t work anyway, it’s absolute madness and stupidity. About $10 trillion dollars has been spent worldwide on this hoax and wind and solar accounts for 3% of energy production worldwide. Wood still accounts for 10% so that’ll give you some idea how totally absurd these so-called solutions are.

If You look at the effects of the climate warming on various countries GDP, then the big winners are Canada, Russia and the Scandinavian countries, but for the USA and for most European countries the climate warming is still a minor win so far. So the strategy of these countries is to pretend to fight climate warming for now, and only to start to fight climate warming in earnest as soon as the effects of further climate warming on the GDP of these countries starts to turn negative.

You mean old paradigm is: extinction is unavoidable? We are reaching that level rapidly and no emission cuts are made. record levels in warming, emissions, oil demand and so on. Actions are very much needed, but old paradigm of money making without any realization what that does to the nature and to the people. Our whole economical system avoids all harms to the nature. If we even add the damage to the nature in the costs of products, then we cannot afford most of them. And that is the key point in this paralyzed situation. We have to buy less and we have to buy products that are not harming the environment in a large scale. Our electronics, with one or few years lifespan, is one of the worst in this case. After pandemic we saw that aeroplanes were all full of tourists. Totally avoiding the emissions and harm they make. And often they headed to Mediterraneian where they were hit with too hot conditions, wildfires and even floods. But no, these morons does not understand that their behavior is certainly causing these ever worsening effects (flying is around 10% of total emissions and rising fast, tourism causes lots of extra emissions, waste and is harmful for the local ecosystem).

Talking about "climate repair" should scare us. Humans have had the arrogance to think that we can fix anything, but every time we have tried to "fix" nature, we have made it worse. On the other hand, when we have just left nature alone, we have been surprised at how nature repairs itself. Examples would be the area around Chernobyl that were abandoned after 1986, or how the ozone layer repaired itself when we stopped emitting CFCs. So, the only chance of saving humanity is by stopping burning fossil fuels as quickly as possible. Without that, nothing else matters. Then we have to find some way to remove GHGs, which we don't have now. After that, probably we are best to leave the planet to repair itself, because experience shows that if we try to fix it, we will only make it worse.

"every time" we try to fix nature... And now you're going to tell us about the cane toads in Australia, right? We really haven't tried to "fix nature" very many times, but if you deal with live animals, results are very hard to predict, because they Have SEX! Things can change really quickly when creatures can reproduce. If you do something more simple, like stratospheric sulfate aerosol injection, you're only dealing with physics. If you don't like the results, the aerosols will be gone in two years. You can start very slowly and monitor the results. We need to use our cerebral cortices, not our amygdalas, when considering the problem of climate intervention.

Professor James Hansen et al. (2023) says the equilibrium climate sensitivity for the amount of CO2 and it's equivalents at the current levels is 10C above pre industrial levels and 4C at 2100. At equilibrium, there would be almost no ice left on the planet. We would actually need to draw down a massive amount of carbon now to avoid a certain extinction. I just don't think we're getting out of this, along with better than half of all species.

His viewership is also extremely low. Human extinction is not a popular subject. McPherson did something extremely well by reading all the peer reviewed papers from climate scientists and collating them to provide an overall understanding of climate change and the impending disaster that’s already happening before our eyes. He hopes his conclusion is incorrect and after 1.5 C the tipping points are baked in. Even the government report from the ultra conservative IPCC states the irreversible effects after exceeding 1.5C. those of us that view this content are so small in number that for some reason we are very well informed or bat shit crazy! who knows?

The ECS (Equilibrium Climate Sensitivity) is the amount of warming expected from a doubling of the CO2 in the atmosphere. Current estimates of the climate's long-term response (that means a thousand years, not weather!) vary between 0.9 and 7.1 degrees C, according to scientist's current published numbers. The problem, of course, is that the ocean needs to heat up, and the atmosphere is slow to dump heat into that heat-sink. The uncertainty of the ECS value is like a musician hitting a random note within a few octaves and claiming that the music is settled. The UN stated in 2018 that half of all species on earth would be extinct by 2030. We're halfway there. Doesn't look like that prediction is coming true. It's almost as if they lied. What (if any) are the downsides to making outrageous claims to bolster a narrative?

Drastically reducing emissions will only make matters worse by eliminating the cooling effect of atmospheric aerosols in many of the greenhouse gases in our atmosphere. My proposed plan is the following: 1. Recognize that the Earth is far too warm and must be rapidly cooled. 2. Conceptually split fossil-fuel emissions into GHG releases and aerosol releases. Reason: GHGs warm the Earth and remain in the atmosphere, whereas aerosols cool the Earth and are quickly removed. These two components therefore require distinct measures. 3. Minimize GHG releases through efficiency measures. 4. Optimize aerosol releases to balance their positive cooling and negative human health effects. 5. Implement solar radiation management (SRM) at the scale required. Reason: SRM is the ONLY means we have for rapid global cooling.

Unlike the simplicity of repairing the Ozone Hole which only required changing the refrigerants used in appliances (and propellants in aerosol cans), repairing Climate Change requires the rapid reduction of the primary global energy resource and the simultaneous rapid production & deployment of state-of-the-art renewable technology systems in all sectors where fossil fuels are prevalent. Given the unimaginable trillions of dollars already invested in fossil fuel powered devices, from transportation to heating systems to electricity generation and agriculture, and the dozens of countries just now industrializing their national economies, it is simply inconceivable that humanity can solve the global climate change crisis in time to prevent the crossing of these known tipping points. No wonder that the level of denial & inaction in government, business and consumer sectors is actually a deep seated intuition that resistance is futile. Mitigation will continue to be a massive failure, so local adaptation & societal collapse are the implicit plans that remain in play. Basically, like passengers on the Titanic with the level of water constantly rising, either abandon ship onto something that will float or prepare to go down with the ship. Adaptation is preparing now to survive 2.5 or even 3.5C of global warming in your lifetime. A challenge every bit as daunting as surviving the Ice Age was to our distant ancestors. Very, very difficult, but not impossible...

This is Oct. 2023 and greenhouse gas emissions still haven't peaked yet, although increases are lowering. So we've got a long way to go to peak, then decline in emissions until we hit net zero, which by the way is 16 billion tons of CO2 annually, which is equal to what plant life on land and in sea sequesters every year. Just in CO2 that means we need to reduce emissions by 24 billion tons a year. But keep this in mind; the biggest 16 container ships emit more CO2 than all the world's passenger cars combined, and there are 90,000 container ships. A Panamax container ship burns 63,000 gallons a day. So all those container ships need to be converted to hydrogen fuel cells. We've got a lot of work to do, so let's get busy. Also, Paul Beckwith in one of his recent videos showed that for 2023, Jan. thru Oct. the world's temperature above pre-industrial was 1.54C. That's an average for the year with 2 months to go, which means we've blown past 1.5C. James Hansen says a big part of the recent temp. increase globally is due to reduced sulphur content shipping fuel, which is reducing dimming, allowing more sunlight to hit oceans, raising water temperature and in turn world temperature. So let's get busy!

For ice sheets on thing could save parts of them for a little longer. Having their ocean facing sides covered, so the cold melting water stays in the area and prevents warm water plumes that are one of the main reasons for the large scale melting. The area that needs to be covered is huge. So no small funding or mission can do that. And it becomes harder every year we keep on emitting climate warming gases. It is almost impossible task without the total shutdown of the fossil burning. Also we have alternatives for fossil burning, but hardly any real ways to prevent glaciers melting under ever hotter world. SHUTDOWN the primary cause. Then we may do the alternatives. Yea, emissions and so for climate change has been worsening last 50 years (climate papers on Jimmy Carters desk). Nothing that has real impact on the issue has been done so far.

@@PaulADAigle Making a reflective surface is an option, BUT not for 2,3 million square kilometers that was needed in Antarctica yesterday. Area is just too huge to be covered with manmade solutions (that makes emissions and is most likely poisonous in some amounts). Storing ice and snow can be done in small scale, but not in large. Even permafrost, permanently frozen ground, is thawing around the world. So ground temperatures are rising too high for ice. You may cover some glaciers, but it is hard to even cover one mountain glacier, yet alone all of them. Yearly replacing them after winter snow and surface darkening is a huge task that needs to be done every single year. And even those are not helping when the warmer rains comes and may even melt the permafrost covered tops of the mountains that may slide downhill. The only large scale solution is rapid decline of manmade emissions and along that we need to suck out huge amounts of carbon from our atmosphere. And we don't have that sucking option for the needed scale. And not even talking about how much it would cost. We are losing Alpine glaciers (~40% of Europes water sources), Himalayan glaciers (1-2 billion people rely on those melt waters), Rocky mountains glaciers (ie. Colorado river basin is in dep troubles already), Andies glaciers (ie. one major city is losing its summertime freshwater completely), ... During the medieval warm period, it was warmer than it is now. Polar bears survived just fine. There are tree stumps (carbon dated) a hundred miles north of the present-day northern tree line. Grapes grew in England, and for 200 years were competitive with French wines; not warm enough for grapes now. The MWP has been edited out of the record because it didn't fit the narrative. Evidence ignored does not make reality different. It certainly isn't science-based observation. If you look at the New York tide gauge, it shows the annual increase in sea level has been the same since 1850, which is as far back as it goes. There are a bumps and dips, but the darn thing is linear, which means there is no acceleration. To get acceleration, they change from marks on a stick (harbormasters, who have no sense of humor), to space based measurement, which is now an inch off ground-based measurement. Eventually, someone is going to notice. (It has been, but the news is slow to be released to the public.) All that aside, there are serious problems of pollution that should be addressed. CO2 isn't one of them.

10,000 years ago the sahara desert was forest. 14,000 to 250,000 years ago over half of the earth's surface was ice. The earth has had periods in time in which there was 0% water ice across the planet. Western, modern civilisations are NOT the biggest producers of emissions. It is the undeveloped world that is producing the majority of carbon emissions so that they can reach a point of being a developed country. If you want to reduce emissions then feel free to go over to the undeveloped countries and tell them that they need to die, because that is what removing their ability to produce carbon emissions will do. It's perfectly fine for the already developed world to reduce emissions, exactly the thing we HAVE done, but our renewable energy, which also relies on carbon emissions to create and run, does not have the capability of meeting the energy needs of both the developed and developing world. Everything is fine. Stop fear mongering with this climate crap. If our survival is so important and you actually cared about the well being of others you'd sit down and shut up and let the developing world continue what they are doing in order to join the developed world. We can not, globally, reduce emissions until the entire world is modernised and developed.

As much as I admire your motive . The comparison between co2 and cancer is so far wide of the mark that I could not really take this seriously. co2 is the life giving gas of nearly all life on planet earth, our doubling of atmospheric co2 may be one of the only decent things humans have done for the biosphere. In the last 2000 years we have seen periods of warming and cooling. As a general rule vulcanism is the cause of cooling. One of the reasons for our warming is that the air is clean due to the settling of volcanic dust. Once the dust settles the earth recieves more radiation from the sun. Co2 is an essential gas , it is a trace gas and a rare gas. However calling it a green house gas is misleading. It is blanket gas. We dont live in a greenhouse when we see the stars at night our air rises and cools. If we reduced atmospheric co2 what would happen?. We would see a huge drop in harvests . Consider the dinosaurs , we can tell from their size that there was plenty to eat it was warmer and the co2 levels nearly ten times more. We still have ice on the planet so we are still in the ice age. With the tilt of the earth our climate changes and many other factors come into play . Targeting co2 as we have , is not only anti green but anti human. Climate change was one of the drivers of the industrial revolution. Climate change was refered to in the old testament. Our change to oil and gas saved our great whales from extinction. Would you rather live in warm times with lots of co2 or cooler times with falling co2. Our emissions do play a part. One of the books that I used to teach from called 'man the adapter' from the earliest days of farming people had to adapt. It would appear you want to reverse or slow down the system. Earth is a dynamic planet with continual change and it has a master, the sun and a follower the moon. We are still learning about the sun earth relationship are you aware of the role of cosmic and solar radiation on cloud formation? People blame co2 for anything bad ,this so the humans feel guilty?. The two gases that are more important than co2 are water vapour and methane in terms of holding heat. peace

CO2 is plant food! Fun fact: the primary method of cooling the surface of the earth is convection, not radiation. Warm air rises, clouds form, rain falls. The water, as it condenses to form clouds, emits heat to the upper atmosphere, where it then radiates into space. The process is chaotic, which is hard (or impossible) to model. Thunderstorms are heat engines; they pump heat energy off the surface and emit it into the upper atmosphere.

A fool eh ? I am in receipt of an excellent Scottish education thanks . Study history, do not ignore it . We are living in one of the best periods. Over a 100 yrs ago astronomers discovered that Venus had high levels of co2 and methane, the fear being that we would become like Venus. Venus is closer to our star and is hotter than earth plus we have a moon which continually interacts with our atmosphere and oceans so that isnt a runner. From our geological past we have found that the co2 levels in the dinosaur times were 6,000 ppm we have not yet breached 500ppm. we can see by their size one thing , there was lots to eat. The more co2 the more life has an opportunity. As to climate change , the reason the Israelites ended up in Egypt because there was a drought ,climate change is nothing new. This fool used to be paid well to teach others.peace

Cooler, less populated, away from rising sea levels etc. It will cause horrendous civil unrest only controlled by what sort of Govts? Nothing that exists today certainly. And I'm not talking about racial unrest it will be "wealthy" Western people moving to safer Western areas, eg. Texas to New England. How do we think that that will pan out? say 10/15 million o'r more on the move. They won't be able to sell their property who'd want to move to Texas? with limited water, if any etc etc. How, do we even start to cope with this social upheaval. Answer is we can't. The geological record does not support claims about carbon dioxide being intimately linked to temperature. Even the new chair of the IPCC has stated that climate alarmism is uncalled for. Each day starting May 10, 2010 takes us 1000 years to the past of the universe. Today May 22, 2024 the state of our universe is the same as it was 5 million and 126 thousand years ago.
