1,800 shots from K-9 howitzers, 130mm MLRS and AH-1S helicopters / 해병대, 북한 갈리도 전초기지 등 목표 사격훈련

서북도서방위사령부는 29일, 북한의 연평도포격도발 6주기를 맞아 백령도 해병대 6여단과 연평부대에서 실전적인 해상사격훈련을 실시했다.
이번 사격훈련은 적의 화력도발과 기습강점을 비롯해 다양한 도발상황을 상정하여 서북도서 부대가 보유한 현장 전력을 중심으로 대응절차와 사격술을 숙달하는데 중점을 두고 실시했다.
특히, 이번에는 최근 북한 김정은이 다녀갔던 갈도, 장재도, 마합도를 포함한 도발원점과 지휘ㆍ지원세력에 대해 사거리별, 화기별로 대응사격하는 훈련을 병행하여 실시했다.
이번에 참가한 전력은 K-9자주포와 130mm다연장, 공격헬기이며, 총 1,800여발을 사격하였다.
이번 훈련은 우리 해역에서 실시하는 정례적인 사격훈련으로서 사전에 항행경보를 발령하였으며, 군사정전위원회 관계자들이 입회한 가운데 정상적인 절차에 따라 진행됐다.
또한 유사시 주민 안전을 위해 주민 안내조를 현장에 투입하고 안내방송을 통해 즉각 대피할 준비를 하도록 안내하였다.
한편, 해병대는 연평도 포격도발 6주기를 맞아 11월 한 달을 ‘해병대 전승의 달’로 지정한 가운데, 전 부대 전투준비태세 점검을 비롯하여 화력도발, 기습상륙, 무인기 도발 등 다양한 적 도발 유형들을 상정하여 각급부대들이 실시간으로 상황 조치하는 통합훈련을 실시하고 있다. 훈련은 12월까지 수차례 지속하며 사후강평을 통해 상황관리 체계와 대응모델을 더욱 발전시킬 예정이다.
특히, 11월 23일에는 6년 전, 북한의 연평도 포격도발 시간과 양상을 적용하여 상기훈련을 실시했다. 부대는 위기조치기구를 운용한 가운데 장병들의 생존성 보장진지 점령과 주민 대피 안내조 운용, K-9자주포와 스파이크 미사일 비사격 절차훈련, 환자후송훈련 등을 실시했다.
홍성민 포 7중대장은 “6년 전 포 7중대는 적의 포격도발에 맞서 누구 한 사람도 숨거나 물러서지 않고 의연하고 침착하게 대응사격에 나서 대한민국의 자존심과 소중한 영토를 지켜냈다”라며 “당시 연평도 해병들이 이룩한 승리의 DNA를 이어받아 적이 도발한다면 준비한 모든 것을 쏟아 부어 응징할 것”이라고 밝혔다.

No doubt just like Japan, South Korea has developed their own defense industry and have produce impressive tanks, artillery, etc. As a retired Marine with 21 years in service and 3 year in combat and in exercises with other nations. No one comes close to the US military. They run choreographed exercises based on a script, but that doesn't prepare you for combat. Many years ago, we ran a "free play" exercise in Japan where my company was the aggressor force and the rest of the battalion was the friendly force. I prepared positions based on my experiences in Vietnam and my extensive knowledge of military history including Sun Tzu. Just about every time I thought I had a great defensive position, my battalion had a great surprise for me as the aggressor. That exercise convinced me that free play exercises were the only way to proof either defense or offense tactics were effective. Scripted or choreographed exercises wer/are completely worthless as everyone knows who is going to do what. The enemy doesn't care about our choreographed exercises. They study them and develop alternatives. A long time ago during the Soviet Union, a Russian general once complained that it was too difficult to fight the Americans because they didn't follow their doctrine. I continued with free play exercises at my company level, but I could never convince battalion or higher to do free play exercises. The most important tactical lessons I and my platoon leaders learned at my company free play exercises were that my platoon commanders (and me) learned that tactics need to be modified with the truth on the ground and not by books and theory. Free play is based on doctrine but allows the commanders to modify and adapt that doctrine to defeat the enemy.

Why are you comparing displays whith exercises? You are from older times I see...."free play" exercises are pretty much the norm nowadays, and systems like MILES help a lot to make them much more realistic then "referee based" EX'es have ever been What they show are artillery drills, there "choreography" and absolutely strikt drills are vital to bring rounds on target. Thats a think thats hard to graps for most "grunts". You need to handle heavy maschinery, explosives and burny things quickly and under stress again and again and again and again...make one mistake, and people get killed even without interference by any enemy.
