K9 and K10 prove compatibility with US munitions during a live-fire demonstration at YPG

During a live-fire test at the US Army's Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona, in September 2022, Hanwha's K9 Thunder Self-Propelled Howitzer and K10 Ammunition Resupply Vehicle successfully proved their compatibility with US munitions, including 155mm M795 projectiles, XM1113 RAP, and MACS charges.
The demonstration consisted of three events _ automated resupply of US projectiles by the robotic K10 ARV; firing of M795 projectiles to showcase K9's tactical Shoot-and-Scoot capability; and firing of XM1113 RAP, which successfully proved the K9 artillery solution's interoperability with US munitions and charges in addition to the extended range, shoot and scoot, and high rate of fire of the K9 system.
For the Burst Fire and Rate of Fire capability, the 155mm/52-calibre K9 self-propelled gun fired six rounds in 43 seconds with minimal physical effort. The K9A1 also fired XM1113 RAP to a range in excess of 50 kilometers.
This live demonstration was conducted under the Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) framework signed in 2020 with the aim of assessing the feasibility, performance, and capabilities of carrying and firing the US munitions by the Hanwha artillery platforms.

I think one of the main reasons is quick delivery times. Poland feels an urgent need, they have good experiences with Hyundai/ROTEM/ Hanwha and they have attractive license conditions . About quality or specs I don't know, I am not a gunner, but what does the best howitzer in the world brings when it takes 5 years on waiting lists and to complete production ?

@@martin-lf5wl 발전소가 포격으로 터져서 대포병레이더가 꺼져버려 어디에서 쐈는지도 모르는 상황에 무차별 반격을 했을리가 없겠지요. 1차 포격이 끝나고나서 진지로 이동 후 반격을 하려니 어디에다 쏴야할 지 모르겠고 그렇다고 안 하기는 그러니 무도 북한군 진지에다가 쏜 겁니다. 북한 사상자 다수는 여기에서 나온거고요. 북한 포병 상대로 싸운 건 레이더가 복구되고 -> 2차 포격이 이어지고 -> 원점이 확인되어 반격 한 겁니다.

@@martin-lf5wl 포격이 한참 있기 전 해병대는 대포병레이더의 증강을 요청했지만 국방부는 조치를 하지 않았습니다. 포격 이후 부랴부랴 들여온 게 그린파인레이더인데 이 물건이 습도에 의한 잔고장으로 유명했습니다. 현재는 한국 모델로 교체했고요.

미국의 포신 기술이 100 이면 한국의 포신기술은 85 정도라고 암니다. 미국의 58구경 포신은 완성 상태이니 수입하여 K9A2 버젼에서 L58 구경으로 장착하면 미국이 K9에 자국 부품이 들어가니 폴란드처럼 차체/포탑 구매 형태로 수출하기가 쉽지 않을가 십다. 하지만 투트랙으로 국산 L58 포신도 개발은 해야한다

저는 K9 포수, 병포반장으로 복무했는데요. 우리나라는 1970년대 후반부터 영국하고 미국으로부터 화포 포신 설계기술을 도입해서 KH178, KH179같은 견인포도 독자적으로 설계할 정도로 포신설계 기술은 충분합니다. 단순히 포신 구경을 52구경에서 58구경으로 늘리는 것은 기술적으로 어려운게 아닙니다만 현재 K9에 사용되는 CN98 포신에는 포신내부에 크롬도금 코팅이 안되어 있어서 포신의 수명이 1000발 정도입니다. 반면에 미국의 크루세이더 자주포와 독일 PzH2000의 경우는 포신내부에 크롬도금 기술이 적용되서 1500발의 이상의 포신 수명을 갖고있다고 합니다. K9의 58구경장 포신도 현재 특허는 한화가 보유하고 있지만 K9을 58구경장으로 교체하려면 늘어난 포신의 길이때문에 포탑과 차체의 무계중심 설계를 다시 해야한다고 합니다. 58구경장 포신을 달고 사격하는 크루세이더 자주포를 보시면 포신때문에 차체 반동이 제어가 안될 정도로 심한데 이건 포신의 길이도 문제지만 차체가 지속적으로 반동을 견디지 못하면 차체내부에서부터 균열이 일어나 폭발사고가 발생할 가능성이 높다고 합니다.

실제로 세계 최강의 자주포는 팔라딘 자주포입니다 자주포 스펙 자체야 성능이 딸리긴 하지만 포탄 기술이 세계최강이여서 사거리 100km로 현재까진 미국 빼고는 그 누구도 성공하지 못했습니다 우크라이나에 지원한 엑스칼리버 포탄은 최대 사거리 57km 거의 정밀유도포탄이라고 봐야될정도입니다
