I knew things were going to be hectic with your move and settling in to your new home in addition to the requirements of your profession. I'm ecstatic you finally completed all the intensive editing of the flight (I know the cameras are running the entire time which = tons of footage you have to go through to get what you want to release) to give us your final professional video. Great Job Stevie and please keep the videos coming when the opportunities present!!

Thank you so much! And thank you for waiting for Part 3, I really appreciate it. Editing these does take quite some time - given how things are going I'm thinking about hiring an editor to help out with the process so that I can post more frequently, but I also don't want my videos to feel any different. Lots to think about, but either way, more videos coming soon! I have a few recorded from the past few months that are in the editing process now!

I was pretty sure your schedule was full to overflow, and if you do find an editor to help you, hopefully that person will view all your videos so they can get a feel of how you want the finished product of your videos. Good luck with your decision. Please know, and I think this probably goes for most, if not all, your viewers and followers, no matter how long it takes between videos? Stevie actually arrived here in late October 2021, and had prearranged a hangar at KCMA prior to her arrival. During the second leg, she can be heard in the video saying that if any pilots in the area recall her call sign "...remember the date of October, this is me in the Bonanza." So she's been in So Cal for a bit, likely getting settled in and working. At the very end of this third video, you can see that the trip took three days, covered 1,846 miles, required 5-fuel stops and used 200-gallons of 100-LL. She also mentions that the actual flying time was a bit over 16-hours, so I'm guessing it simply took awhile to edit the video then post it. Belated welcome to the West Coast, Stevie, and yes, the Waypoint closes at 1600 local, but the food and vibe are awesome. Enjoy...

As others have commented below, you’ve inspired me to pursue my PPL. I posted this on one of your videos back in November. Today I’m fully complete with ground school and have taken about two months of flight lessons. Listening to hours of your radio communication (and others on KZbin) has helped me tremendously! Please keep the videos coming!!

How much has your total cost been and how hard is ground school? Any tips, thanks.
@LRobichauxIV
@LRobichauxIV 2 жыл бұрын
@@fireworksguy666 I chose the online King Schools ground school. Was not "hard," but it's important not to allow yourself to be intimidated by all the new material you've never seen / heard before. You'll pick it up - it's just new and a good amount of memorization. Just keep going over it. I probably watched half of the material more than one time. I'm sure there are many ways to approach learning to fly, but here is what worked for me: (1) before you do anything, see an FAA certified doc to ensure you can get your medical (you don't want to spend a bunch of time and money only to find out you cannot clear your medical), (2) get ALL ground school completed before you take first flying lesson, and (3) watch copious amounts of high-quality KZbin videos on flying instruction, particularly on ATC communication. For instance, it helped me just watching Stevie do her cross country trips with VFR following communicating hand-offs from one ATC to another to another. There are TONS of aviation KZbinrs out there that are pretty good. As far as cost goes, my experience is not typical so you shouldn't use my experience as representative. I chose to do all my training in a Cirrus SR-20 G6 at a Cirrus Platinum Training Center because I want to buy a SR-22 when I'm done with instrument certification. There are really good schools out there that use standard training aircraft who have gotten the costs down to a pretty reasonable level.

4500 is a fairly low altitude for that flight; I usually try to fly up around 75-10.5 if possible for cooler air in summer as well as hopefully smoother air. In warm weather it can be very bouncy, even up high. I've flown from AZ through Banning Pass many times, and have been based in Camarillo for many years. There are lots of great flights in this area. You will have a fantastic time.

I would also love to watch a Q&A by you! I know very little about flying and am so curious how this whole process works. As long as you have a valid license and your own plane can you fly virtually anywhere (within reason)? How much did your fuel cost? How much does your hanger cost? Do u make monthly payments on your plane like a car? How do you reserve hanger space over night for long flights like this? So excited to watch more of your content.

She's monitoring a radio while transmitting on another. Antenna coax running together and antennas near each other on the top of the aircraft without radio interlock is what's causing this.

@@astral9872 Certainly that's causing the distortion on the audio when Stevie is transmitting. However; the static that @John Cline talks about is quite evident in all three videos whenever she is listening to distant stations and not transmitting at all, which suggests either ignition noise through faulty grounding of the ignition system, or deterioration in the coax shield or radio ground.

I am so impressed with this young lady and the professionalism in the way she communicates with the air traffic controllers. She sounds like a seasoned pilot at the controls of her thousandth commercial flight of a wide body aircraft.

I'm glad you made it safe and sound. I know you can't wait to start your new life in California. I wish you all the luck in the world. You are a credit to general aviation and to the human race. As I get older, I worry a lot about the future of our great nation but then I watch/listen to young people like you, and I feel better. We are going to be ok; I feel. People like you will build on what we already have and make it better. Take care.

Thank you so much! That means a lot to hear - I do my best to be a good influence and role model for future aviators, especially in the world of general aviation. Thank you for coming along on my adventure!

Thank You! A great digest on your travel and this post was my favorite. I sensed ( to my little brain) what small plane pilots experience and feel elated that it is: that serious and that rewarding.

Nice flight. That static you here is most likely from a leaky ignition harness. You can verify by changing engine RPM and listen for accompanying change in static frequency. Obviously you’ll have to do that while Someone is transmitting. Close by stations may be strong enough to mask the static.

Enjoy flying here in CA -- it's busy but wonderful! PS: Flying the SVFR route over LAX at night is a sight I'd very much recommend. You get all the city lights plus two lanes of strobes coming into LAX. Happy landings!

Thank you, definitely enjoying it so far! I have yet to try the SVFR route but it's on my list, I'll have to try it at night as well. I've taken the coastal route a few times down to SNA - so cool to fly right over LAX!

757 liters of fuel used in 16 hours of flying. That is a lot of fuel when you think about it. Nearly 4 x 200 Lt drums of fuel. Avgas 100L in Oz costs $2.80 per ltr. If this flight was done in Oz it would cost $3150.00 AUD. I can only assume the US price would be about half.

It was about $1000 USD for this entire trip for fuel and ramp/FBO fees! So probably around $900 for fuel if I had to guess (it's been a while 😅)

It seems like it's a lot cheaper than driving because when you're driving you have to get hotel rooms every night and it takes a lot longer and in this country time is money that's for sure!

@@JacksDivingI don’t really agree with this, especially coming from Michigan. If the two,of them drove, they could take turns driving. 600 miles a day is doable. Traffic is a diff story though.

@@Steve-qn8gn definitely very good point. I might be looking for an aircraft that at least goes 200 knots then... And can handle my family and all the dogs. 😂
