With my birth date still being before that of any aircraft you own, it gives me great pleasure to see you trying to keep us "old f@rts" flying!!!! Old and Slow is an everyday thing with me now, I'm sorry to say. (It's extremely frustrating waking up every day with another "challenge" responding with..."This is new." followed immediately by "Dammit!!!" As you mentioned in your pre-flight checklist, things back when I was young were "Very Simple!!!" Thank you for trying to keep vintage aircraft in the air, Stevie!!! And please keep the great videos coming!!!

Hey Stevie, thanks for another great video! You drew back the curtain a little in this flight, revealing a tiny part of what you do behind the scenes to ensure your flights are safe, smooth and (mostly) run to plan (i.e. your trip plan)! Would you share a little more of this with us in future and show us what goes in to planning a multi-leg flight, such as your one to Oshkosh? I'm sure I and others would benefit from this in our own flying and flight planning.

I watched this video last in the series of 3 videos and that really had me noticing all the 'old plane' issues with this aircraft. It's really an ugly duckling here and Stevie restores her into a beautiful Swan. In fact the restoration completely transforms the aircraft and resets it back to looking very classic with modern avionics and lighting.

As someone who grew up in the 70's & 80's in the LA basin I am always shocked to see how much the air quality has improved. Back them the only way the air wouldn't be dark brown or orange is if there were Santa Ana winds or after a winter storm.

Enjoyed the video. Back in the day (90’s), I had a 69 C-150J. Because of the age of the avionics, I carried a handheld radio with VOR for weather and backup. Sure enough, coming home one time through the Van Nuys pass, I lost Comms. I could hear them, but they couldn’t hear me. The backup handheld came in clutch to get me over LAX Special Flight Rules Corridor and down into TOA. Ahhh, the good old days, lol.
@kwittnebel Жыл бұрын
Great comment. Probably a bit less likely with newer Garmin stuff, but a friend lost coms coming into SMO the other day and after hearing that story I ordered a handheld. It is really handy for monitoring radios on the ground etc.

I also like how the controller gave you a little attitude and you politely corrected him and he apologized immediately. Then you go on to explain how busy they are.
