I remember the Amiibo craze, while people speculated on the figures, I was buying Nintendo‘s stock, literally trading shares waiting in Amiibo lines. Ironically, at the time you could’ve brought a share of $NTDOY (pre-split) for about the price of an Amiibo. Something to think about, to all the Timmy and Kimmy investors, I made WAY more (per dollar) on the stock than any Amiibo ever appreciated in value.

Want to know one of the rarest modern toys. Its Grossery Gang bug strike figures. Line was out from 2016-2019. Only 3 years. Bug strike was only in Toys R Us. They were $5. They reminded me of Food Fighters. Kids are already bugging parents for them. It has only been 8 years. Check prices.

I would enjoy a follow up video on amiibo. Please get into the intricacies of in line production changes to both the character and box printing. Help people understand the print runs, and how one can determine when and where their amiibo was manufactured if it's still in box. I recall Little Mac being underproduced in the 2nd wave. Not just at my local toy stores, but rather it was well known by people collecting the Smash Bros line that Nintendo had underproduced this figure and others simply because of sell through projections. Nintendo did go back and reprint Little Mac, but the box had changed by then. This is just one example. We could discuss Villager, and how the eyes were changed 3 times. I believe Marth had a boot strap color change in later re-prints. There are plenty of nuances that could affect collectability in the long run. I am not claiming that this will make them valuable, but rather something fun to collect. This was a good video! Like I said, I'd really enjoy something more in depth if it's possible.

The only amiibo that is priceless is the one Charles Martinet signed at the first convention I went to with my 4 years old daughter. For others it's worthless but for me it's everything

I finished my Smash Bros set. I have 95% of the non-smash amiibos. I opened all of them. I plan to keep going till I have them all or they stop. I don't expect to sell for big profit years down the road. Probably won't even break even.

I missed the amiibo speculation. i wasn't into collectibles then. born in 1991, 32 right now. i got into MTG in 2009, and silver/gold and precious metals in 2020. I looked up the mega yarn yoshi amiibo, definitely made good money on those! They sell for over $100 easily! Just base don my novice collectible knowledge, I don't thin they'll re-release it either. Maybe in other colors but it owuld take a special event like a remake of that game, and even then, ppl would always want the OG. I feel like any remakes of that yoshi amiibo would be drastically lower in quality compared to the originals that you have, keep up the great work. Happy new year and greetings from CA!

I can confirm up to at least the Saga Collection 2007-2008 that Hasbro was shipping Star Wars figures in differently stacked amounts in cases. This was the bane of my father's existence trying to get certain figures that we knew only came one in a box. Smart strategy, horrible if you want the "rare" figure though.

Hi Shawn, thanks for the great video! I collected the amiibos - for fun, not resale. Typically I imported Japanese amiibos for a fraction of the cost during the hayday. If you decide to sell your spare Mega Yarn Yoshi, where would that be listed? This is one that I forgot to grab and I figure now is as good a time as any to add it to my collection.

Wii U was a name foisted on NOA by NCL, it wasn't a US marketing blunder, they had no choice. Amiibo had been in the pipeline for awhile, but I get why you're thinking it was seen as a quick cash grab by them, it came out around the time Skylanders was popular.

@@ReservedInvestments sorry i'm referring to videos where they show an item(pokemon cards vintage toys old games ) and they say "it's a great investment" it's worth so and so "thousands" they even say "a holy grail' and i go this ppl are crzy i do collect that stuff out of nostalgia but prices are insane on some of that stuff so i got out of the hobby so not harping on yor videos in fact i like the advise you give to ppl👍
