When I "add" a scenery object it seems to always put the object where it wants. Sometime half mile away, lol. I notice when you add it always appears right in front of you. I there a trick for adding stuff and things like the polygon where the first one always shoots into space, lol.

Thanks for watching. Are you working in mountainous terrain? The only time I have seen things act, as you mention, is in very rough areas. Typically, folks need help with polygons in mountain areas. I have not seen objects behave that way. Sometimes, if you are putting an object over other scenery that has been heavily terraformed below, this can always present problems. Instances where you may run into this are placing scenery on an area where Google Earth files have been added by a creator. Sometimes, it can happen at third-party airports. It depends on how the creator built the file. As for standard unedited areas, I only have an answer if my first suggestion is valid. Good luck.

Hello, not sure if this is really the sequel to 1A. What I wanted to do, I have a small airport (LEAX) and I would like to add some pavement (which is there in real life but not in the simulator), additionally I guess I need to add taxiways and parking spots, and clean up some other parking spots. I already removed some trees at the runway ends at this airport, but I am not sure where to find a tutorial for a task like that.

Hi, g bee. I do not see an option for that in the present SDK. It appears to be all or nothing. There may be a way to manipulate XMLs and other files in the official airport folder, but I am not 100% certain. Regardless, it will be convoluted. I know of a way, but it will be much more challenging than the method I used in this video. Please let me know if you want to learn more about the alternative method mentioned above. it seems to me easier to edit existing runways and not create new ones, especially since most often this is not possible because there is a binding to author's textures, etc. but unfortunately it is not always possible to extract runway data from existing airports...

Thanks for watching. I have yet to try that method, so I must educate myself. I can replace a runway in about five minutes as long as I am not explaining every move I make. The idea of this video is primarily to educate folks about replacing a runway to bring the airport up to date where the runways are outdated in the Sim. It is illogical to replace a perfectly workable and accurate runway, as I selected in the video. But, I chose this location because plenty of changes are needed at KCKV in subsequent videos. So, I did the illogical thing so the video series would be at the exact location. 😄 That is the method behind the madness and the choices I made. If you have a better way, that is the method you should use. Thanks for the suggestion. I will look into that because there will come a time when it will be applicable. Happy building and flying. P6

@@patriotsix5880 a good example would be to show the changes somewhere in a big airport (3rd party paid scenary). developers (even paid products) still make a lot of inaccuracies in important aspects, for example: wrong runway lighting system and papi angle, wrong runway length, wrong runway threshold altitude.

@@radeon29 That's true. I own KATL. I purchased it from the Marketplace, and there were two control towers. I emailed the creator, and they could have been more helpful. Eventually, I went in and removed the Asobo Control tower myself. Which is an entirely different process. Everything you mentioned is something I can do except for Popi. I must educate myself before setting the popi angle, but it is doable. I will add that to this series. At Asobo airports, all of this is relatively easy. On payware, I need clarification. I would have to run tests. You can remove objects from payware, but I need clarification on making edits to runways, etc. With access only to the package and not the entire scenery folder, the embedded parameters may be hard to edit without redoing the airport. Again, I would need to run a test to know what can and cannot be changed outside of objects. The XML files that need altering are not accessible in the package. So, though it may be possible, it will be an arduous task and maybe a partial or complete overhaul. I will see what I can learn. I am backed up at this time due to a home project. It's a wife thing. 😃
