You could definitely connect it to other speakers

Do you think its worth it to get this turntable for now and then upgrade it in the future with an amplifier, preamp, better speakers, etc? Or do you think this turntable system will prove to be a bottleneck for that?

I would say this would be more of a standalone system. It has the pre amp built in and comes with some decent speakers.
