Are you getting Orakei confused with Orc? Like all those Guys from the Two Towers were Orakei, not Orcs like can be seen in the Ranks of the Return of the King... Do You Even Know What you are Talking about? Also these are pre Sauron warping them to his Evil Minions, over Generations of Control, so they are Not Going to be Pure Evil Yet, just your Regular Sort of Evil... And they don't get Grown like Saruman did in the Two Towers, because Orcs and Orakei are Different, although they look similar except Orakei are Bigger and Tougher and have way better Moral and better at taking Orders... I don't see it weird one bit that Pre Sauron Orcs or Post Sauron Orcs Breed, and the need for them to have Maternal Instincts for their Off Spring, otherwise the only other Evolutional Option would be for them to have Numerous Large Litters to have a good enough Rate of Survival to Breed themselves... Plus the NZ landscape in both 'versions' is put to great effect. Agree that the effects on RoP look inferior at times. I was just being charitable as that's the only aspect of RoP that isn't lousy.

Whether Orc familes and babies is lore accurate or not will forever be discussed but the fact that out of everything Amazon could have shown that could be lore accurate, they decided to make Orcs have families? This is kind of why Amazon had to put so much dialogue in the first two episodes about the elf rings not being corrupted. "I was there, he never touched them." "If what you told me was true Elrond, then these rings are free of Saurons corruption." But then that leads to the next question.. If they arent corrupted by Sauron in Amazons show, then why did he just sit there and watch them be made and not doing anything? 😂

Do they give good sport?'" siad the orcs about their captured prisoners Merry and Pippin, so yeah Orcs love to kill stuff, love going raiding and pillaging, looting, love killing..of course orcs have variety of motivations, some served Dark Lord unwillingly: “They were a gang of the smaller breeds being driven unwilling to their Dark Lord's wars; all they cared for was to get the march over and escape the whip." And there are some who are faithful servants of Sauron, Grishnaks calls himself trusted messenger, he even seems like 'secret police' type, many orcs wanted to win their master's praise and rewards given to them ("'... Then you'll fly off with our prisoners, and get all the pay and praise in Lugbúrz, and leave us to foot it as best we can through the Horse-country.") They ARE evil, they are doing evil, they are horribly corrupt and depraved beings, they can be pitiable but it doesn't excuse their doings when they were on their own....and that was doing the same thing they did as servants of the Dark Lord perpetuating the same violence, orc tribes of the Misty Mountains had 'petty realms' of their own, but they were far from peaceful, and they hated other folk and often were hateful towards each other, feuds and treacheries among their own, lots of infighting etc. when they are slaves of the Dark Lord they oftne get dominated in their minds and wills and so become even more like instruments of destruction in their hands...they can rebel and think for themselves when they are not dominated and mind controlled through the projection of the Dark Lord's will but still they often gravitate towards evil, this is the only thing they know.

Orcs left on their own would probably form raiding bands or slave societies. Goblin Town is a good example.

While there were orc females and children (Bolg the son of Azog for one), and orcs multiplied in the same likeness as the Free Peoples (so..ya know), the idea they were loving nuclear families is probably not the case, though an orc full house spoof would be pretty fun to watch! If anything, female orcs were probably just used to constantly breed orc hordes, like messed up humanoid ant queens! The only sympathy I can have for orcs is pitying their very existence, being tortured, mutilated bodies housing pure elven souls corrupted through dark magic. As Thranduil in the Hobbit Films once said, the best way to release an orc from there torment is to "free his wretched head from his miserable shoulders."

@@rydawg8934 I do appreciate it, but come on, that line is fitting! As much as I love the source material, I am not a fan of purism. I may not like ROP, but PJ's Hobbit films were inarguably better. There films I grew up with, so there's a fair share of likable scenes. I'd watch Tauriel having a threesome with Kili and Legolas or Alfrid Lickspittle stuffing coins in his bra over ROP any day!

Well speaking of Thranduil...killing a defenseless prisoner is probably what he WOULDN'T DO even to an orc...Wood Elves are generally said to be "reasonable well behaved even to the worst enemies" and that the only creatures they have no mercy upon are giant spiders...and rightfully so they are demonic spawn, on the case of Orcs...they kill them when they have to, but I guess Thranduil would know of the teaching of the Wise: "But even before this wickedness of Morgoth was suspected the Wise in the Elder Days taught always that the Orcs were not ‘made’ by Melkor, and therefore were not in their origin evil. They might have become irredeemable (at least by Elves and Men), but they remained within the Law. That is, that though of necessity, being the fingers of the hand of Morgoth, they must be fought with the utmost severity, they must not be dealt with in their own terms of cruelty and treachery. Captives must not be tormented, not even to discover information for the defence of the homes of Elves and Men. If any Orcs surrendered and asked for mercy, they must be granted it, even at a cost.* This was the teaching of the Wise, though in the horror of the War it was not always heeded." Good guys in Tolkien are good guys because they are moral, even to the horrible evil minions. :)

Thank you for pointing this out. Tolkien went a little back and forth between what to do with orcs. His “final” thoughts were more corrupted beings who multiplied like humans, elves, etc. but had hatred in their hearts. I think the orcs were not fully evil (after all, they were victims of evil), but they as a race of creatures had been so broken down and controlled by Evil that there was no redemption in life. As Gandalf said, “Pity?… Do not be so quick to deal out death and judgement, for even the very wise cannot see all ends.” Nice Hobbit reference too.

The only thing I like about the Rings of Power is the way Adar looks. I have always imagined all Orcs looking somewhat like Adar. Yes, I am a fan of Peter Jackson's trilogy. I have always loved Alan Lee's artwork. But I personally envision Orcs having a twisted and dark Elvish look -- not the hideous monsters they are typically depicted as. I think showing cruelty with a fair countenance is more terrifying than cruelty with an outwardly evil countenance.

The only person that would have a dark elf appearance is Sauron. Orcs are always described as elves that were tortured beyond recognition. Their entire being and souls had been twisted. Because evil cannot create anything new only distorts and destroys in Tolkien's words.
