only thing is the hood is cut for a 6-71 on a sbc. oh wait i see it had ram air III ported heads, it was a pontiac 350? A pontiac can be good, it just needs at least some high dollar aluminum heads, if stock iron cams won't even matter that much except rpm. Plus it would be amazing to go NA and duplicate the hood with a fiberglass one and keep it all under hood with a massive stroker kit. butler performance does a really good pontiac engine, but for that i would build a better small block chevy, i wouldn't be ashamed, however poncho supporters would really dig a poncho engine in a poncho car , no doubt about that. i am putting a windsor based small block ford in a chevy 2nd gen camaro because Dart's block comes standard with the 9.5" tall deck beyond the optioned sbc at 9.4" and that is the third option up. And lb for lb and dollar for dollar the windsor base outperforms the sbc only very slightly so there is that also. Well i believe a perfect street car deserves a good rod ratio to keep cylinder seal at maximum and cylinder bore wear at a minimum that is why i make my own blueprints.

Amazing Firebird! Ever since I was five years old I wanted one after seeing the Bandit for the first time and I promised myself that I would buy one like it. Fast forward to 2019 when I was 21 and an opportunity came along that would be life changing. My Grandparents' neighbor had a 79 Special Edition Bandit Trans Am outside for many years and I would go over to see it many times. Sadly the owner passed away and her son asked me to make him an offer since he knew how much I wanted a Trans Am. It was in need of a frame-off restoration and I offered $3,000 for it since it was a rare Y84 SE Bandit T/A with the Pontiac 400 and 4-speed transmission. He said that if I promised to show him the progress and let him see the car when its done, he would let me have it for $1,000 along with all of the parts for it. I am working hard to restore my dream car and pay tribute to the original owner and the Bandit himself, Burt Reynolds. I'm also planning on doing a KZbin series on the car and the restoration process. Your Firebird is gonna be an awesome!

My dad and I built a Model A Tudor sedan we were having trouble with a motor. for most people there are 3 options, a flathead V8, an original Hemi, or the psl of motors a 350. He was leaning into the 350 for the same reason everyone else does, cheap and easy as hell. I prefer things a bit more original, a buddy of mine had just pulled a Pontiac 400 with a th400 mated to it. Here is the fun part, it was pulled from a 70 TA, givin a solid rebuild, bigger cam, new slugs, full rebuild on the 6x heads, nothing crazy just a solid reliable motor. it was the shoved into a 72 C10 and was only started a couple times a week to keep it fresh. it sat there for about a year and the dude got tired of trying to make it work properly in the truck. it was pulled and loaded into the back of a truck, the guy drove over to our house and backed into the yard, $400 for all of it. my dad went back and forth for a bit, I got mad and told them to unload it. needless to say it rested beautifully between the frame rails. over 400 hp in a car where the motor is the heaviest part....is an absolute blast to drive. Now the sad part, he sold the car to someone out of Louisiana so he could start another project. We got a hold of a 40 Ford shoebox, he got the seats covered in purple and black vinyl and stopped....he was diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer and passed shortly after. All that to say, go with the Pontiac motor, and if anyone knows where that Tudor is....please hit me back.

BUILD IT!!! Pontiac motor. Can't wait to see it done. Bob Seger Stranger in Town or Van Halen I or II in the 8 track. So glad you are on your own now.

I remember when you and I talked about it at Drag Week and how I missed it by minutes to you buying it. Small world man. Glad to see you still have it and gonna tear into it.

The colors on that thing are absolutely amazing. For a back yard paint job it's pretty sweet.

You're doing it right. Bring it back to its disco-era show queen tire-smoking glory.

Love the car and love that you are going to preserve it. Power plant doesn't matter as long as it is blown.

Instagram really made me aware of this car mod genre. In the midst of the pandemic I chanced into a street machined ‘69 Mustang Sportsroof in a 80s GM color, Medium Maui Blue. With a dark blue, crushed velvet interior. With a 408w. For a steal. Hard to believe I own it as a ‘69 fastback is one of my dream cars, and it was a friend of a friend kind of deal.

That paint job look sick. Love the old-school metal flake look on muscle cars and chopper gas tanks. Looks like a life sized hot wheels from when I was a kid.
