I'm confused. A mango tastes nothing like a nectarine. A mango has a really specific taste, a nectarine is just common fruit sweetness. Like if you get a mango smoothie or ice cream, you KNOW it's mango even without seeing it. I just don't understand how she got mango wrong... I would understand getting an apple wrong more, honestly.

Christine has cooked like that for many years so her brain is used to compensate for her being almost completely blind so it's not even remotely comparable. Vision is a very important part of identifying food and when you're not used to identifying food without it then it can become very tricky.

Actually your smell. Most of what we identify as "taste" in food comes from the smell going up in the nose canal in the back of our mouths. Tongue can only tell what is sweet, salt, sour, bitter and (bit of a controversy) umami, which is that "rich" flavor of beef, mushrooms, fish and...MSG!

First of all it takes longer to chew on it and by the time the finishing and chewing the cube and then answering they’ll have too much unnecessary footage they have to cut out. It’s supposed to be quick. You move on from one person to the next. Plus, If for example you eat the whole cube of cheese then you have a cube of something like broccoli. It’ll be hard to taste a food with not that much taste to begin with and especially when your whole mouth just tastes like cheese I guess

It's annoying seeing so many people in the comments underestimating her ability to be a good chef... It´s not healthy and it´s the parent´s job to put a food down, but it is a safety response "I know eating this won´t kill me. So I eat that." is pretty much the instinct behind it. Our body especially a child´s body is very in the here and now and not caring much about long time effects. Funny thing is I was the same her age. And I´m her step dad not her biological one.
