@@trevscribbles I'm using that as an example. I'm saying a professional needs to know their craft. They need to be able to know what they are using and when they use it. In this case I was saying that a professional mechanic would know the difference between a wrench and a hammer, a professional chef needs to know the difference between the fish they cook because each one has a different cooking time, flavor, needs different ingredients etc. Obviously knowing the different fish species is more complex than knowing the different mechanic tools. But that wasn't the point of my original post.

Well it's not memorizing all the fish, its just the common ones for cooking which they probably should know (those in the video are common in australia).

Let’s leave the job of recognizing fish to Marine biologists. Chefs recognize the meat in the fish not the fish itself.

If their are so many different trouts why didn't they get concerned about naming the flathead. You got a sand flathead, dusky, bartailed, yellowtailed and the northern sand flathead.
