Shoe shine by Fernando. He's 19 years old and has been a shoe shiner for 4 years in the Center of Mexico City. Fernando's father used to work on this shoe shine stand but he retired some years ago.
Fernando's shoe shine stand is located on Av. Francisco I. Madero, in Mexico City Centro.
Madero Av. is a pedestrian street with many businesses, restaurants and shops. Locals and foreigners come to this area to enjoy the public space as well as for shopping. The weekends are especially busy, and the location is near the Zocalo in Downtown Mexico City.
My black leather boots were a bit dusty and needed some shine. Fernando made them look shiney like a mirror.

@@ShoeShinewithKat yes of course, in Rome and for sure in Naples (Naples shoes shiners are the most famous in Italy), and in other cities too, but nowadays they usually work in their shops or they come at your home. Shoes shiners who works in the streets are quite rare and "retro", you can find them in Palermo, I've never seen one of them here in the north of Italy.

One of your rare videos to show a stand outside working hours, unique regarding the ongoing clear up process itself. I wonder about the extend & variety of equipment maintenance a shoe shiner might have to do in the after hours. Washing the polishing cloths, purging the brushes, refilling the chemicals, restocking operating supplies, doing paperwork, etc. in whatever intervals, and so forth. A legit interview topic you could bring forward 💡 If #shorts are worth the production effort: Make one (or multiple) about a stationary shoe shiner rigging up the stand. And one (or multiple) about clearing up. Alternatively (or better additionally, please) film a morning and an evening walk... or multiple, when you are in & covering different locations, please; covering as many stationary shoe shine stands as possible. Does this blend with _Blue_ _Skies_ & _Tamales_ ? 45 to 60 minutes per video might barely suffice...

@@ShoeShinewithKat Nope, seldom. Shorts are not my cup of tea. I just mentioned shorts for their timelapse format. I would rather enjoy watching the whole & epic one/two/three (?) minute rigging up and/or shutting down process in realtime. A crappy #short would burn the occasion like a straw fire; dissatisfying. For instance, if you would keep an eye on, better say camera lens on Francisco setting up his stand in the morning, and with him maybe explaining the one or another twist and turn, that would be a satisfying video to watch. Before he starts at prompt 7:59:59 in the morning: "What did you btw. have for breakfast that fuels you on today's busy morning?" 😁 For me personally, there is no urge to speed up content creating for Blue Skies & Tamales. There are still numerous videos left to watch. Blue Skies & Tamales imho is very enjoyable. If you could crosslink it with the initially suggested walking tour, which is not exactly a shoe shine in terms of the -bloody- mighty algorithm, then why not "outsource" it ;-)
