Love a Meat and Potato Pie! Either with my usual pickled red cabbage or my family's "Green Stuff" (finely-chopped round lettuce and spring onion mixed with mint sauce - my Great-Grandmother would've used fresh mint, vinegar and sugar). Green Stuff is good with so many things... ✌

The oiliness isn't surprising when you consider they contain margarine, shortening, sunflower oil, and coconut oil, most of which is hydrogenated. For £1 they fill your belly, but I don't think they'll be doing you much good. Nice to see Iceland bringing back the bargains again though, they lost their way for a bit with sky-high prices. But now food prices are going down (a bit) I've noticed Iceland has got busier again.
@Papparoni8 ай бұрын
I agree with what you say Chaat Man, I wouldn't eat these things often as they really are packed full of filth, I have some more of this range to try, not as bad for you either.

Oh I had to try these after watching this review. Totally agree with everything said, I couldn't find much meat in mine either I think it was more minced to be honest. But this thing was pretty tasty, and the gravy was peppery with a hint of spice. 50p a pie, you can't go wrong. The thing that got me is that just these two little pies rack up 780 calories! Iceland seem to have added a lot more to their £1 value range, so here's hoping they appear here soon!

Often these cheap pies are in actual fact quite tasty I have had the 4 for £2.29 chicken and vegetable pies from Lidl and they are very good for the money not a lot of filling but the pastry is spot on. I'm thinking why don't they just sell the pastry cases for you to put your filling in may sound far fetched but Iceland have been selling jacket potato skins for you to put your own filling in them in fact Bald Foodie Guy reviewed them last month take a look if you got 10 minutes spare.

Those potato jackets to fill yourself are an excellent idea, and I reckon your pie idea should be done, nice one Ladd.

Pretty good £1 value 2 pack pies you have there Papp. Shame there wasn't any real chunks of meat, but you get what you pay for and in this case the meat was ground. Better than that 'de-luxed' meat flavoured crispy air pocket GJ reviewed the other day. That was a shocker. Yeah this pie is pretty honest. Nothing overstated or overrated here. Just a meat and potato pie to feed a hungry guy. Nice review. Pie Pie for now. Cheers John 👍🤤😀

I actually bought these 2 Meat & Potato Pies from Iceland about a month ago Papp... However... I made a silly mistake by putting them in my fridge with some other chilled ready meals... Rather than putting them in the freezer... By the time i'd realised my mistake... I was extremely hesitant to try cooking and eating them... As they had been defrosted for roughly four days at that point... So reluctantly they ended up going straight in the bin... I hate to waste food... But for the sake of £1.00... I wasn't prepared to risk getting food poisoning... But i'm glad to hear that they were pretty decent Pies... I've been trying to buy myself several of these Iceland £1.00 budget products... But unfortunately for a month or more they were out of stock and unavailable... It's only within the last week or so... That some of them have finally been restocked and available... So i might try some of their other Frozen Pies in the Iceland £1.00 range... They are the 2 Chicken & Bacon Pies... And the 2 Lamb & Mint Pies... 👍 I'll be back on here a little later on anyway Papp... As i'm finally having the Asda Limited Edition 2 Smoked Ham & Mature Cheddar Slices tonight mate... I'll give you my thoughts on them a little later on pal... Many thanks for the review Papp... It's very much appreciated my friend... All the very best... Cheers mate. 🍺

@@Papparoni Hi Papp... My thoughts on the Asda Limited Edition 2 Smoked Ham & Mature Cheddar Slices... Are about a 5/10... A very middle of the road score i'm afraid... The Pastry is wonderful... As is the Mature Cheddar Cheese... But the Smoked Ham is very subtle in strength... And the amount of filling in each slice is pretty pitiful really... I was expecting much more filling inside of them... They might be okay for a light lunch or a snack... Or even having them as a meal served with Mashed Potatoes and Petit Pois Peas... And maybe accompanying them with a nice thick and Creamy Cheese Sauce... But i probably wouldn't be rushing out to buy them again Papp... It's a real shame actually... Because they've got most things right with this one... But the penny pinching amount of filling inside... Means that you'll be paying mostly for the Pastry... If they were to double up on the filling... And charge an extra £0.25 to £2.00 from £1.75... They would have a cracking little product... But as they are at the moment... I couldn't really recommend these Asda Limited Edition 2 Smoked Ham & Mature Cheddar Slices... Sorry about that Papp... 😥 Cheers mate. 🍺
