@@jeremiah-om7zl I agree. Only two shops south of Key Largo will even touch a two stroke. Anecdotally, I have heard from mechanics that they just don't command the revenue that four strokes do. 100 % correct. Because they falling apart, not because they are hard to work on. Also, people think they going to get a brand new 2stroke motor back, not even a brand new 4stroke e Mercury goes a whole year without 1 issue.😅 In other words you fix 1 thing another thing breaks. 24:00 Old Yamaha 2-strokes are incredible, they just run despite their age, I replaced my 75hp Evinrude for a old 50hp Yamaha temporarily, I picked it up for about 400 bucks and I just had to change the gear oil, lube the cylinders, give it a new impeller and replace the plugs and that was it, ran great but struggled to idle for long periods of time
@rockdaddio6914 күн бұрын
I say that idling for long period or slow trolling with some tilt is hard on them and wears out seals. Always good to goose it a bit now and then and get the oil up and flowing.

Always great to see old items get new life. Too many people just buy new and toss a perfectly good items in the trash. Such a waste. Might want to put a few of those mats that absorb oil but not water under the engines when you work on them. You don’t want to get the ground oily and greasy as it tracks that stuff everywhere. The oil also might enter the ground water if you have a well. A few of those mats will help greatly and they keep working when wet with water. Thanks for sharing, very interesting.

Every outboard motor have different particular problems. The way you go about troubleshooting its very similar, then depends on the particular outboard model and technology is made up. He's just starting each outboards but that doesn't mean they are 100% water ready. Many of them look like they are but once you put it on the boat you will know 100%. He knows what he's doing and probably learned from his father or went to school, he ain't going to teach nobody what he knows. He just showed you how to check compression and many still won't get it.
