I've been watching for 2 minutes and I can already tell this is going to be a great tutorial your actually explaining things step by step and what is going on...I can't tell you how many "tutorials" i have tried to complete where they do hot keys they don't explain, drag in things from or set options off screen, gloss over important details like "set the world size".

in your properties module you have it set to CPU. If you want to make a particle system with a lot of particles, you should be setting your sim target to GPUCompute Sim and change your calculate bound mode to fixed. CPU sim target isn't meant for this job.

incredibly usefull, thanks a lot! maybe the final optimization for the 1M fishes can be done with a very aggressive LOD, like max LOD under 2 or 3m, the rest with crappy LOD.

Right on! Yeah, I think you are right about that. It going to have to be a super aggressive LOD system.

Good skill teaching. Can you do a video on how to make Fluid streams (e.g. a shower jet =multiple streams, or water facet) that: 1) Has collision, 2) flows around the SK player body (e.g. each arm or hand) and not just Capsule (looks fake)? I believe that this can only be done in 5x with the new Fluid Niagara sys. So it would help if you show how to set that up. Bonus if you can do a 3D slim effect (which is like the Fluid stream): it falls on SK player, then drips down. Thanks. I have an unanswered question about UE and how to make wiggle particles that have a thickness. I.e. are they meshes and they use your trick to bend the verts by using Material code? E.g. I saw a game made with 4x or 5x that had Scifi slim/trail/tendon that went from the top of a crate to the bottom of the floor, at an angle. And this wiggled and seemed to have some 3D thickness (didnt look completely flat like a Plane). So what type of asset would that be? SM/SK with cloth sim or SM with bend vert Mat code? I want something that I can shoot at or player passed thru it, and it wiggles or breaks. Idk if 5x Niagara can make a particle sys that forms together like a 3D ribbon; then particles break apart if enough X force is applied? Thank you.

@azielarts Жыл бұрын
Yes that is a good question. To be honest I am still figuring out the best way to do this myself. You can turn on collisions, but at the moment it that will just make them bounce off instead of try to swim away. I will make a video on it when I can figure out a simple solution 👍

Hi, when I switched to sprite rendering, when the fish turn to move, their up and down directions will be reversed, why is that?
@shanliumoshi790411 ай бұрын
When they are generated, the movement is affected by the attraction and does not guarantee the correct direction of rotation

Why is it not possible to use SimTarget == GPUSim in this case, please?
@azielarts Жыл бұрын
Yes I tested it as a GPU sim as well, for some reason I got better results on cpu🤷♂️ maybe there was another bottle neck in textures or something. Usually I would go for GPU for high spawn rates, but this one ran smoother on cpu. I think it is worth looking in to, because I don't know why that would be

@azielarts Жыл бұрын
Hah lol I guess I sold my soul because there are more Maya jobs out there ;) but in all seriousness, both are great. It depends on the industry. Film/TV is all Maya, but the game industry has a mix of Blender and Maya. And if you are making your own stuff, it is whatever helps you make the best art !!! A lot of people prefer Blender
