Thank you so much! I've wasted so many hours trying to figure out why the video comes out grainy every time. I've never even considered using Anti-aliasing for it :'/ The weird thing is that there are no useful videos on this subject. At least, I couldn't find any good ones. It's baffling to me how anti-aliasing is not activated by default because it would automatically fixed the bad quality of the video/images.

yup the tool is in development and we need to remember, we are part of the testing team as well so yeah it does change and it's not a bad thing, just learning it while it is still not at the final step is hard. good video thank you very much!

is anyone else using 5.4 having problems upgrading plugins? I try using 'RunUAT.bat BuildPlugin...' , but it gives the error "Value cannot be null (Parameter 'element')" for most plugins

HOLY SHIT I FOUND THIS JUST IN TIME! I was watching your other tut on how to make a forest in PCG but I was using UE5.4 and I couldn't find shit I messed around myself and (kinda) found the solution myself, but this helped a LOT Thanks man!

Great tutorial. I am having a bit of an issue with the inpect feature (pressing "a" on a node) not returning any information. It reports "no data available" on all nodes. I am not able to change from $Density to Grass since Grass doesn't seem to be detected with the Surface Sampler. (also, the Input node has apparently been deprecated so I used Get Landscape Data instead in UE5.4.1) Any suggestions? (everything else works great, I just get spawning everywhere instead of only on the grass)

It even doesn't make sence to have it there, because of sub-graphs. Because you can be in sub-graph where is getting data from parent.

It was already deprecated, always use get landscape node, you can duplicate it and check height only to have landscape height

@@azielarts not a pro tip really, i follow this channel for those tips, but the node had the deprecation label and description since 5.2 i think so i adapted beforehand Also in 5.4 you can use finally hierarchical generation with runtime gen and it wouldn't work with the old input node

I agree no one wants to see development slowed, however it does show a hole in their development cycle in as much as they aren't entirely thinking their framework through enough. eg. the very thing you describe; if you're making 'Points from ....' it obviously follows that "...." would mean Mesh / Landscape etc. but instead they put one as a node and the other in the output node, which is illogical then they have to fix it essentially breaking everyone's stuff. Expand this problem over the entire engine and not just this one instants and you don't just have a moving target but an invisible moving target.

Yeah these are totally valid points. I hope in the future they can avoid these kind of structural changes if at all possible. I do wonder why they originally had it coming through the input to begin with. Maybe they didn't realize how many different things people would use if for besides landscape inputs. IDK, hard to know from the outside looking in.

PS: you mentioned potential outdated tutorials, but honestly (even though I can guess you put a lot of time into them) replicating some of yours to update them on your channel wouldn't be that much of an issue, especially if you find the workflow easier Can always do short videos like this one or even some where you dive deeper into previous subject, would watch either for sure

For some reason with mine it's not importing as a video but instead a single image. I don't know what I'm doing wrong here and I've follow all the steps.

Amazing tutorial! Thank you so much for sharing! I am following along and have run into a slight problem: the particles seem to collide with the trees, and the spawned particles work. But only if I hide the PCG... when hidden I can see the sparks hitting the (invisible) trees, but when I unhide the PCG my sparks only very sporadically show up. Am I missing something here? I would really appreciate your help with this one! Again, thank you for making great content!

Sorry I Like & Comment so much, I like your tutorials the most. They’re clean cut. Can you make one for 5.4 showing us how to make Procedurally Generated NPCs? Not like Monsters & stuff- more like… Your Prospector Character. That would be wild. Spawn the procedural world with procedural NPCs to give procedural quests. 🤯

Im not quite sure but the road thingy isnt working for me, It does affect the points in the spline but the meshes are still spawning on top of the road curve :(

bro, this isn’t the same in 5.4 🤦‍♂️ it ain’t generating no damn cubes for nun. when i do the pcg i get a graph & graph instance -i did graph like you said, it ain’t giving me no generations. 🤦‍♂️ i dont understand why developers make things work in one update but completely destroy or gut similar for incompatibilities. bruh- my graph should generate as yours did regardless of my .4. 🤦‍♂️

The reason this is taking minutes is because each partition is generating points for each other partition, and then you are rendering the foliage ontop of each other N times. You can test if this is accurately the case by clicking a single partition, and hiding it. Plug a 'get actor data' with settings 'self' and 'merge single point' and then also call 'cull points outside actor' after the sampler to address the issue of mass creation and spawning on points.
