I understand your point about American made cars as they contribute to the American economy and create American jobs but given the quality of cars Dodge/Ram build these days, any takeover from any car manufacturer would result in better quality of cars, plus regardless of who will be the new owner, the cars will still likely be built in America. Even currently, Dodge/Ram is not American owned, they are owned by Stalantis, which is a European company.

@@Basketball4life99 And there is your problem. THEY ARE NOT AMERICAN OWNED. Stellantis will be defunct before long. And saying any buyout would be a good thing is stupid. Seems you have the business sense of a snail. China is not your friend, and has no business owning anything in this country. And don't give me the " They already have a market share in American companies already". And any issues that these brands have ? It has everything to do with the steerage of the parent Company. And all the talk about EV's. A tragedy waiting to happen. I am not against them . I am against the poor planning of them, and the push that somehow, they will save the planet. I am leaving out a lot with each point I am making so do not try and post to me this or that .

Steantis is really crappy on supplying parts. I waited forever getting a steering damper to stop death wobbling. I have had a driver’s visor on order for months. My jeep buddy took her jeep to peddle in poway ca , they told her they couldn’t fix her 2007 wrangler cuz it was to old. The dealer said that that’s a new one for me

What did the pinheads at Stellantis expect-they sell poorly designed, unreliable and expensive crap. Carlos Tavares has to be one of the most incompetent CEO in auto history. I would like to see these iconic brands return to US ownership. Perhaps the biggest problem any buyer would have would be overcoming the reputation of poor quality & unreliability of these vehicles. Another problem what about all that inventory of overpriced vehicles that few if any consumers are interested in buying.

I would point out that adapting to the electric vehicle market as you say here has cost automakers billions of dollars. The only electric car company making money is Tesla and that is all they do. I wouldn't be so quick to blame the slow adoption of electric vehicles for Stellantis' troubles when it is painfully obvious that they have lost the image that people look for when buying Jeep, Dodge, or Jeep. They are too much luxury and upscale interiors and they are too expensive. Example: who will pay $50K or more for a basic Jeep? They were meant to be rugged vehicles capable of going off-road, not luxury vehicles with $5,000 audio systems wrapped in leather. Just price a RAM pickup, a Dodge car, or a Jeep Grand Wagoneer and you will get a feel for why Stellantis is looking to unload these brands. God help those brands if the Chinese own them.

Yes. The real issue is that Americans are increasingly relying on China, or put another way, we are becoming addicted to China. It is cheap now. Bet ya they will keep increaseling price but keep us hooked. Sad thing is we will no longer even be close to competing with China. Sad we are fighting amongst us over who is going to be our president while the rest of the world is zipping us right by. The real adversary is not your fellow American with different political views, they are the ones selling you cheap shiz that get you hooked like drugs. We are already quite doomed. Americans lack of patriotism and their work ethics have turned for the worst. No one wants to work. We are in serious problem. Hope we all as individual Americans realize that and need to change and we need change at an individual level first. What have we done today to make our country better?

With huge tariffs as a real possibility for imports, can you imagine how much a new Wrangler will cost? We'll think that Stellantis' prices were good and they can't make a profit with their already ridicules pricing. China would need to purchase CJD at a huge discount to make any profit at all. I'm sure China will want to keep the production lines in the states to muddy up the lines. Should be interesting if this actually happens.

I saw in the past the weakness of Chrysler Corporation`s mid and early 70`s decade, almost disappear because not for workers but more by mistakes taken by the Management Staff in all levels, from R&D to Sales departments, as I read in the Iaccoca`s 1984 biography. Stellantis must leave alone the Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep brand , let to others buy the company and make it run inside US territory and star to develop products which north american people want, to fit in their own idiosyncrasy and local market, millions of buyers willing to get a National made Car brand like this. If BYD puts money over them, the Mopar legacy will turn to a electrical power new models, that`s for sure. Why reject the Walter`s Grand son offering if he has the money to investment?

My first pick up truck was a 1947 Dodge, with a Flathead 6 motor and a 4 speed manual transmission, that truck was almost 30 years old when I bought in 1975 and it still ran great. On it's front hood it said the it was built by the Dodge Brothers. How stupid can Stellantis be? Their Sales are Down for two reason, they raised their MSRPrices over 50% over the last 3 or 4 years and they're doing away with V8 motors. Lower your prices, STOP gouging your customers by charging them for paint color (every color is a $500 up grade except White). Nobody wants Electric cars and trucks, they don't make any sense when their's rolling brown outs during the summer or during power outages. Any mechanic will tell how turbo powered engine don't last as long as naturally asprirated (on-turbo'ed) engines. Lower the MSRP and simplify your vehicles by using naturally asprirated engines.

Stellantis is a multi-national company headquartered in Holland, the one in Europe. It owns some American brands amongst others but Stellantis is not an American company.

This could be a smart move. If Trump gets in with his tariffs the Chinese owing these brands might then open factories in the USA. They are not stupid.

On the subject of EVS Ford and GMC has spent billions and billions and billions of dollars that have just been wasted now they're going toward hybrids like the CEO of Toyota said EVS are not the answer that's why they're working on hydrogen motors in what we're finding out is electric vehicles. A. Very high risk fire hazard!!!!

The Pacifica is not a great vehicle, recently rented one. Previously had 3 of the Dodge and Chrysler vans. They were much better. Especially the Town & Country. Wish I still had it.

Maybe Stellantis is ahead of the curve. They aren't indulging in EVs. In my opinion, EVs will NOT survive

As fas as I know Stellantis came up with those 4xe crap "Jeeps"... I can see those pilling up out there in the dealers... I don´t think that this is happening because of not embarcing electric cars quickly enough...

EV's are a joke, they don't do well in water, fail in excessive heat, and freeze you to a icecube in grips of winter roads and storms. They are a niche vehicle in many markets here. Powering a EV is not a green alternative fuel source and this should be of major concern for the green idea that is talked up about them. How could you recycle a EV anyhow, you can't it's a terrible idea mass corrosive batteries.

I wouldnt purchase ANYTHING from stellantis. Not any vehicle under any name under the stellantis umbrella name. IF china owns it and tries to sell it in the north american market, i hope its boycotted and banned.
