This is such a great in depth comparison of the two notebooks and definitely helped me in my decision to go with the Rocketbook! This notebook will help me organize all my notes like my motivational KZbin video ideas and graphic designs for my brand's merch and is perfect because I love writing down my notes but always wanted my notes to be digitally searchable.

Hi Jake! I didn't really like your video, in fact I absolutely loved it! I've gone through extensive researching just to determine what suits me best, until I finally stumbled across your video and was able to instantly make my decision according to my needs! Thank you so much for such a great video, I'm definitely sure it helped and will keep helping hundreds if not thousands of people as it greatly helped me! I ordered Rocketbook's products (Fusion + mini) to use them extensively for work since my primary purpose is to take notes (particularly many many meetings that seem endless :D). I wanted to get these notebooks but in my country, the frixion pens are at least 3 times as costly as a good quality pen. I've also read that the frixion pens get used up quicker than a conventional one so I don't think i'll be going with this solution. If only the pens were cheaper it would have been a good alternative to usual pen n paper

I've been using Elfin notebook for 2 years and something really bothers me is that the plastic cover is bent (i don't know why). I tried to put heavy things on it and even bent it in the opposite direction but didn't work. It looks ridiculous. Other than that, everything else works just fine
@JakeReevesVideo4 жыл бұрын
Ya, the Rocketbook cover does that too. What you can do is heat it with a hair dryer for a little while, then put it in a book. It will become softer that way. But you have to be careful not to do it for too long though.

Iam a lefty writer, can I use the rocketbook upside down? If so when I scan it will it scan upside down?
@JakeReevesVideo5 жыл бұрын
You may run into issues with smudging, but you can scan upside down to avoid the coil. You would then have to rotate the page in another app after exporting as a JPEG or PDF though, because I don't think the RocketBook app does that

Or you can get the core in the lined version 👍
@jaredperez5064 жыл бұрын
Jake Reeves clutch, I completely overlooked that option. I already ordered the fusion. Seems like a great all around option. Especially if I can manage to organize everything I need & upload the notes - erase & use for everything off. Depending on how much I enjoy the product I’ll probably get the core as a second one. 👌🏽 looks so kool. I’m just finally going back to school and finding this makes me even more excited!

I'm still struggling choosing between them. I think I like the Rocketbook for size (about a4, what I'm used too), but the Elfinbook can reorder pages so you can alternate between lined and blank pages. Also reading that the pages feel more 'paperlike'. If they were in Letter format, I'd buy it immediately, but it is only in small size available, right? edit: then again, if you use two pages / have the book opened, you actually have 2 times B5 size
@JakeReevesVideo5 жыл бұрын
I believe that Elfinbooks come in A5 and B4 if you buy directly from the company. You can swap pages around in the RocketBook as well, but you have to undo and redo the spiral binding, which is a pain. But if you're only doing it once to have the pages alternating it may be worthwhile going with the RocketBook Fusion and getting the templates pages... Good luck with the decision and thanks for watching! ✌️👍
@boy198015 жыл бұрын
@@JakeReevesVideo wow, superfast answer, appreciate it! Because of my last epiphany that it will be 2 times B5 (with the binding in the middle) it will still be big enough I guess. And the better "paper" experience that you've mentioned and easier rearranging, I went with the Elfinbook. Maybe in future I'll try the rocketbook too if I think I need a bigger one. I notice you really tend to the Rocketbook, but apart from the templates, size and app, the Elfinbook might give better experience, right? I noticed the mentioning of the glossy feel of the Rocketbook pushed me away
@JakeReevesVideo5 жыл бұрын
@@boy19801 yes, I prefer the RocketBook experience for those reasons, but if you don't like the gel-pen like feel, then it would be a struggle for you. At the end of the day, you have to enjoy the whole experience if you're actually going to use the product. Good luck! 👍

what pen do you need for the elfinbook, the same pilot frixion erasable pens? also, can you erase with the eraser on the pen with the elfin book? or do you need water? ALSO, what happens once you reach 500 usages on the elfin book? i didn't know that and it's a huge turn off.
@JakeReevesVideo4 жыл бұрын
Both companies only suggest using Pilot FriXion pens. Though you may be able to get away with other thermosensitive water erasable pens - but try them at your own risk. AFter 500 uses/page you'll need to buy a new notebook - honestly, you're probably going to hit a similar limit in the Rocketbook depending on how hard you are on it. It's all about balancing how well you take care of it and how often you use it. Nothing lasts forever.

On the rocket book one, say I'm a left handed, wouldn't my hand smear all of my writing? Also can I use a normal pilot pen?
@JakeReevesVideo5 жыл бұрын
Yes, the left handed smearing is a problem I've brought up in a few of my Rocketbook videos. It's unfortunate. And no, you can only use the FriXion pens!
@uriohayon45345 жыл бұрын
@@JakeReevesVideo so I would have no use of it as a left handed?
@JakeReevesVideo5 жыл бұрын
@@uriohayon4534 sadly, that's probably the case. The Rocketbook One is regular paper, so you may have better luck with that. The best way to check would be to download the free pages from the RocketBook App, print them at home and buy a FriXion pen to try it out.
@uriohayon45345 жыл бұрын
But isn't the rocket book one not eracable? So it's like a normal notebook that you can scan and use the app with?
@JakeReevesVideo5 жыл бұрын
@@uriohayon4534 yes, you loose the readability, but keep the easy scanning and cloud destinations through the app. It depends on what you need. It's the best alternative I can think of for lefties sadly

I have both (and also the infinite book). I really prefer Elfin over Rocket. There are more pages in Elfin and the feeling of writing is great, very similar to writing on real paper. The feeling of Rocket is plastic and the very few pages it provides enhance the plastic feeling. Rocket has a better app but Elfin app is not that bad. An when it come to price Elfin's is about half of that of Rocket. In summary, i would pick Elfin over Rocket any time.
@JakeReevesVideo4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing your thoughts as well 👍 I agree that the Rocketbook App is better than Elfin, but that the writing texture is more like paper in the Elfin. Well said ✌️
@MitsueElisaGuerreroMonsalve2 жыл бұрын
Has anyone made a real test on duration? I know rocketbook claims to be infinitely reusable, but I have heard users that after a while have trouble writing again in the pages and sometimes have solved it with warm water or steam, but that it never goes back to normal. I want to know if you can continue to fix it by using that method, or if it comes to a point where that's it... and if that's the case then how much would rocketbook really last?
@JakeReevesVideo2 жыл бұрын
I have a few videos that discuss the reuse after using the FriXion eraser, as well as ghosting of ink over time in my Everything Rocketbook playlist. In general, it is not going to be infinitely reusable because it is going to take some abuse in the real world. You should expect ghosting to happen after a few uses and gradually get worse, but the Rocketbook App does a good job of ensuring the ghosting doesn’t get captured by the scanning process. In the end, I would expect it to last a few years at least before you run into major issues. I’ve been using them for years, and still really like them 👍 I’m about a year into using the same Orbit page pack every day and it has some ghosting, but I wouldn’t expect to replace it anytime soon… maybe in a few years at this rate.

is it compulsory to use friction pens or does it work with other pens too?
@JakeReevesVideo2 жыл бұрын
You have to use FriXion ones. The combination their their thermosensitivity and water solubility are what make it work. These aren’t properties of regular pens, or most other erasable ones either. FriXion is all that Rocketbook officially endorses.

@JakeReevesVideo3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mariez, I already have a video specifically about the destinations in which I go into a lot more detail. Check it out in my 'Everything Rocketbook' Playlist. Also, Rocketbook is a US company, and my understanding is that they don't actually capture your scan data anywhere - it is saved locally, then shared to your destination only, which is why your scan history doesn't follow your account when you log in on another device. From my conversations with the company, they are quite focused on user privacy. Thanks for watching ✌
