Another tip during this solo drilling is to really focus on your eyesight. This head movement drill is fantastic but as stated you need to make sure you don't accidentally slip into a punch. Having stellar eyesight will help with that. Imagine an opponent and lock your eyes on them during this training.

Thank you sooo much! I just started boxing but know there are moves within boxing that could not be applicable to a street fight or mma or Muay Thai. Head movement and the footwork is some thing that I’m struggling with I want to learn techniques that would be both applicable in self defense or Muay Thai and discard whatever boxing techniques that aren’t applicable to those scenarios. Thank you!

Another tip for beginners would be throw like 2 3 shots and then start slipping 2 3 times and go back to throwing shots. See alot of people shadowbox that they throw a 10 hits combo standing still and THEN they start moving their head, that's bad habit

Great video Gabriel. I also use a tennis ball on an elastic string hung off a beam to practice head movement. It can be quite unpredictable if you pop the ball with a few jabs and it swings around in different directions. I’d really like to see a video on shadow boxing but with kicks incorporated. I’d love to get your advice on how to make the strikes from both punching and kicking more fluid. Thanks 👍

Great answer, so many coaches teach you slipping as if you are going to see punches coming. Every boxer slips punches from just moving a lot whether or not he thinks a punch is coming or not. Nobody is superman you can't see strikes coming 90 percent of the time just keep moving that head!
