First, thanks for all the great information. Second, similar to a comment below, it would be very helpful to see 1) what are you are doing with each component at the climbing height and 2) how this works when having to deal with branches. Thanks again for the info.

To go over branches you would have to attach your lineman belt and jump your tether/ rappel line over the branches and continue the process. As far as what I do with everything as height..i'll have to get my go pro out and try to film some of that. Thanks for watching

Is your 1-stick-rope held in place by a stopper knot, inside the tube? Also, at 13:57 I don't understand how the 3rd aider step is beneficial, once you're in the tree. Great video!!
@AERIALASSAULT1
@AERIALASSAULT1 3 жыл бұрын
The 3rd step is really only important at the ground. But if I had a 2 step aider my steps would have to be longer, which i've done, and it is a pain trying to weight that bottom step. My 1 stick rope is spliced to fit my 1in tube perfect and just slides over the bottom of the stick before you put your bottom step and standoff on

I think I'll just stick to my arborist spikes to get up the tree. I feel like it's way quicker and easier to get up. Then rappell down. watching this makes me feel like I'd have to leave an extra hour early just to climb the tree when it should take a min or less.

Yea me too. Seems to be easier with the larger sized trees to...more real estate for feet and knees to push off of tree. I have hunted one stick before but thinking of carrying two sticks from now on as a just in case...that way I know I can get 12 feet no matter what.

Thanks for the video! As a committed tree climber guy (Lone Wolf Assault Combo) I’m intrigued by the one stick idea. From yours, and other videos I’ve seen, it seems some type unique “mod” is always required which makes the whole process seem rather complicated. Is there an “out of the box” solution that has all the required components? Or must it all be acquired separately? Can’t say I’m ready to switch but it’s hard to argue with the benefits of mobility and light weight! Appreciate the time and effort!
@AERIALASSAULT1
@AERIALASSAULT1 3 жыл бұрын
The best out of the box package can be had at doublesteps.com. you can purchase the ultimate 1 stick and a rappel kit and be set. I swapped from a climber several years ago. Nothing is as a climber going up a tree. But the time, effort, and energy saved headed to the tree is worth the little extra hassle up

@AERIALASSAULT1
@AERIALASSAULT1 3 жыл бұрын
It's a great standoff for gripping the tree. The issue lies is how close to the tree it is! When 1 stick climbing, you need that distance from the tree for a sure footing when moving your tether. It can be done with a beast stick, just a little harder. The flat scout would help that stick tremendously tho.

Any angle creates a little difficulty but if it gets too crooked it's a pain. I wish I could tell you 1 answer and it fix all your problems but I personally don't have 1. Assess each tree diff. I prefer to climb the high side and I will not go to side of the tree.

I agree. Love my LW sit-n-climb, but hate lugging it around the woods. Changing to a saddle and one-stick setup....pretty much identical the one in this video. I hunt public land, so cutting limbs is illegal(although I’ve been known to bend that rule here and there). One-stick and saddle will allow me to hunt the exact tree I want rather than having to try and find a limbless tree for the climber
