In Malaysia we have Eco RM2 shop instead. Not the best quality item, but you can find some real good gems in there. It’s super popular for people who live to DIY home decor too. They even opened several bakeries.

:) I've been to that one a few times as I worked near there. We got those Betty Crocker measuring cups and a cake pan there lol. Ate many times at the sandwich shop Der BrotKorb in the same plaza. Learned to rollerblade in the Erin Mills shopping centre plaza when it was pretty empty 20 years ago.

This store is equal to Dollar General in the US because it has stuff at all different prices that traditional dollar tree. Everything in the store was only a single dollar recently they raced it to $1.25. They also have dollar plus items which are higher both of the most part in it is $1.25 flat.

in the UK, we have 'pound shops', where stuff actually is £1. the only thing that was $1 in there were the Hallmark cards. can it even be a 'dollar store' if most things are over a dollar?

Yeah they only recently raised their prices like crazy. Back in the 2000s and early 2010s most things were actually a dollar here

DR used to be cheap, but not anymore. Many items can be found for around the same price at Walmart, and for even less from Ali Express.

Betty Crocker brand kitchen supplies and foil etc. are very good. Sauce packets 2/$1.25 - grocery store charges $1-1.50 for one packet. Denture cleanser is 1/3 the cost in Dollarama than any other store.

Nothing in dollarama is a dollar. It's all 1.50 and up to 5.00. But it would be hard to find anything 1.50 either.
