A reminder to someone who might need it: most of us don't have (and don't need) an extensive accessory collection and different colorful bags to choose from that will still match the outfit, so sometimes you just have to go with what you have. Someone who has more options to choose from and match will definitely have more variety. (No shade to Helen, just saying that in case anyone feels bad about their "boring" wardrobe)

I agree, but it's something to consider when buying a new handbag. Because we mostly go for black or neutrals.

Texture and drape are so underrated in styling recommendations. Just having one pair of linen trousers made such a huge difference in my wardrobe because they drape so differently to denim or cotton skirts.

Love your in depth Analysis Helen 😊 texture is very important for me especially because I don't wear so much pattern except in scarves. You are so right about winter clothes looking better because of wool textures. Probably why I dislike summer clothes. That's why I have a summer Uniform 😂 Linen, tank top, over shirt and leopard print crossbody. My style this summer I think has improved,tbh it needed to it was too boring!! Thanks for all your inspiring content, I have really learnt so much from you ❤😘

I love how light colors look on you. 😍 In may case, I always need to have dark colors near my face. Also, because I’m a pear shape, my trousers need to be in dark colors. If you have any advice styling darker colors without looking too dark. that would be great. Moreover, nice video as always!

Agree! Except I need light by my face and don't like to look toooo contrasted. I also wear pants with patterns. So I'm a nut 😅

@@neon.neutral I wish I could wear pants with patterns 😅 But they make me look too wide and since I’m XSmall on top and medium in the bottom, the difference is too big lol I have also tried wearing light colors on my face, but the pictures are way much better when I wear dark colors. It’s a mystery to me how colors work on people lol

They really are the trifecta of understanding style. I love how if colour is dialed back, you can lean into texture and silhouette, and vice versa Colour is still the most bamboozling to me, I'm still in my neutrals era 😂 (for now)

Always such excellent content Helen! Talking of silhouettes, I’m still trying to get to grips with baggy trousers! Do you like loose fitting jeans and trousers? Maybe you could do a vid on how to style them as they are all the rage !

One more thing i want to add about silhouette, not only can use contrast to create silhouette, but also exaggeration. Exaggeration is essentially how dramatically the peices are. An example of exaggeration is when you have a giant puff sleeve top with a dramatic a line skirt. Even though there isnt much contrast, in the silhouette, as both peices are round and wide, it is still an example of silhouette.

Helen, I liked all of the combinations you showed but felt that the black cardigan was a little too jarring or just too much contrast with the outfits. The navy cardigan, although a different silhouette, was a much better color on you.

Except for the last overcoat, all the other overcoat looks seemed horrendous to me. The long white trousers looked gorgeous, and I wish I could find something similar for me.

I prefer your old style over your new style and hair but thats me as I dont like colour but doesnt mean it is boring if there is no colour. Some of your new clothes and style are not very practical particularly for mums and honestly when I am out with a child or simply to busy, I hardly notice what other people wear. At one point I really care what I wear or what others wear (when I was a teenager maybe). Honestly I dont think people think this much when putting an outfit but I will continue to watch your videos because even though my opinion is your style is not better, you have put more thought in your outfits and inject more theories in your newer videos so I will watch for that. However does more thought means overthinking which is why people say simplicity is best?

I think the goal of this video is to provide inspiration rather than prescribe what you should do. These tips can be adapted to suit your needs, even as a mom. You can make it as practical as you like. The idea is to give you a fresh perspective on your wardrobe and help you create different outfits from what you usually wear, without buying new clothes - which I think is great (:
@EJH989
@EJH989 Ай бұрын
@@94FBN I think my point was that a normal person unless they have time would no think this much about an outfit. If you find your outfit boring then you have time to even think and even get ready. But even your effort is not really noticed as majority of people dont analyse people on the street or judge - unless by other influcencers or active in the social media world. No one cares in real life otherwise it is not effortless.

@@EJH989I mean this content is for people who like fashion, which isn’t everyone but that goes for anything. Also you might not notice it but even people who don’t care about fashion can still notice an outfit they like on their coworkers or friends and compliment it but not care to do it for themselves. Sometimes people are doing these things when they dress without realising they’re following a method. But yes as people get older, they generally care less about how they dress but sometimes women wake up at 45 or 55 and feel very frumpy and unstylish which is why there is also lots of content by older women geared towards how to get back into dressing stylish when they have lost it. you might personally have moved past caring about dressing because of how busy you are and thats normal.
@EJH989
@EJH989 Ай бұрын
@@bbappzz98 i am not sure what you mean by fashion as people to are truly fashionable not all put this much effort in. you are implying just because I have kids or have less time that I am not 'fashionable' which is my point that when you put less thought the fashion is better in my opinion.
@bbappzz98
@bbappzz98 Ай бұрын
@@EJH989 people who like fashion as a hobby ie watching videos, learning about fashion design (colour, texture, pattern, embroidery), maybe learning to sew, learning about designers etc. People can be fashionable without liking fashion as a hobby or being a nerd about it, this video is more for people with the deeper interest. I didnt mean to say you are not fashionable, I think both before and after are good fits and it’s a matter of aesthetic preference. However, what I meant is some people have “intuitive” ways of pairing things maybe like a Helena Bonham Carter, she has a specific style but this style is built on years of dressing herself where she learnt what she likes about texture, colour, pattern and silhouette. She probably doesn’t think too much because she has her go tos. Your opinion sounds like the simpler the better. I don’t completely agree with simply helen because I think it’s a matter of taste, some people like simple, some like more visual interest. Lastly I meant in your case it makes more sense to reduce mental load when it comes to outfit choice because of your time so all this thinking into an outfit is too much. But other people have more time or they care about it a lot so they prioritise it or they’ve done it so long, in my example Helena bonham Carter has been on her style journey for decades (she intentionally refuses designers and rewears her clothes so we know it’s her not a stylist), so the clothing choices are so familiar it becomes intuitive. This intuitive thing that takes a simple outfit to a bolder outfit, one with more elements but still look good, they play on different fashion design elements - colour, pattern and mixing patterns, contrast, fabric choices, embroidery, texture, silhouette, the list goes on. I hope this makes more sense.
