So many memories of Mike Leach in Lubbock! He brought excitement to Texas Tech football! One thing that I found funny about Leach was that he had the same expression on the sidelines whether winning or losing. A unique individual if there ever was one. This game was his signature win. Mike Leach will be inducted this fall in the Texas Tech hall of honor so it will be very emotional here in Lubbock this fall. Leach was wrongly fired by the TT administration. The fans here in Lubbock love Mike Leach, he always made it a point to include Lubbock in book signings! RIP legend you will never be forgotten in Lubbock!

@sboudreaux27 naw. A full strength Texas team would've beaten UF. Same with OU. But without Demarco Murray & having to utilize Chris Brown as a 3 down back against a full strength UF...OU was doomed. Rewatch that game & see that OU got into the redzone a few times without scoring...but only because they became 1 dimensional without Demarco. UF deserved that 'ship as they were a great team...but OU was shorthanded & that deserves recognition.

This should not be labeled an "upset." Before the 2008 season began, Tech was seen as a contender for the Big 12 South title - Mike Leach, Graham Harrell, and Michael Crabtree made the cover of "Dave Campbell's Texas Football - while rebuilding UT was the team that could go either way. After the Horns played a soft early schedule, their victory over number one Oklahoma propelled them to number one. Even a number one-ranked team can be overrated.

Thank you! This game is so important; when a Leach Air Raid offense toppled the #1 team, without elite talent overcomes a D stacked with guys like Earl Thomas and Brian Orakpo; the Revolution was here to stay. Urban Meyer's Spread to run Tebow, Vince Young's Texas, was Spread to Run Read Option; it was still the old Win with Defense and Run Game; and superior talent at both. We were anticipating 2008 with fire 🔥 What is overlooked is how powerful the Tech offensive line was in 2007 and 2008. They made things possible !!!! Ruffin McNeal - at that time - amazing defensive turnaround!!!! Matt Williams- the kicker (off the half-time contest), Harrell being a Senior, the new defense with Ruffin McNeal, the offensive line, Crabtree. The stars aligned!!!

i remember watching this with our team in a hotel before our pop warner game the next day, we were playing the undefeated number 1 team in our league. The next day we won the game 20-0. This is a game i will never forget.

It's sad that college football of 5-10 years ago is so much more fun to watch than today's weak NFL. When you think about the average plays that would be flagged now, it just isn't what it should be.

I was at the game that night and there were fights in the stands, fights in the bathrooms, fights in the parking lot, and fights at the after party.

As a Tech fan and alumnus this game was historic but as far as the best college football game of all time or at least of my time it’s got to be Texas/USC Rose Bowl/National Championship. Only USC could get me to be a Texas fan for a few hours.

This right here was a perfect game that demonstrated that C Mccoy was not a good quarterback. Most at a time he refused to throw to all of his relatives who could make plays if he would have gone to them but he only could see jordan shipley

2:32:34 How do you drop this game-winning interception???

A few notes: 1) By my vantage point (Longhorn endzone) 2:31 was an obvious interference. I guess they were triyng to make up for the joke non-call on Whitlock's return. 2) There was a fourth storming of the field that the national broadcast missed, in-betweeen camera cuts. 3) When Crabs caught the pass, I was deaf and mute and my phone had lost power, and history was made right in front of my fucking face. It was a day after Halloween andit was daylight savings day. An extra hour to party, 4) The camped out area around the stadium smelled like someone had crapped on a pile of sulfur. There was an alarming amount of underwear on the ground. Texas will always have the money, have the record, always have the orange. But Texas Tech has the Red.

No interference at 2:31 or 2:31:00. No clue which play you are referencing.

Texas Tech was actually ranked #2 after this win until a couple weeks later they lost by 44 points to Oklahoma. If that team would’ve made it to the national championship, they would’ve had a good chance to beat Florida, and I’m even saying this as a Gators fan. Oklahoma was definitely a more favorable matchup than either of these Texas teams.

First and only time I punched a wall after a football game was this one. One year later I was in Pasadena as I watched Colt McCoy go down. I didn't have any walls to punch then. I just felt sad sad sad. Those teams that we had in 2008 and 2009 were so amazing. That's the funny thing about football, it takes more than being amazing to be the best, you've still gotta survive the crazy changes of fortune that can happen out of nowhere.
