Hello! More Opeth on the way for Halloween month. Welcome back, Demon.

I think the spoken echo is Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull...he is featured for spoken words parts on the album (and for some flutes as well)
@ryanallen25022 ай бұрын
The echoing voice at the beginning is actually Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull! Apparently he has a few vocal features and flute solos on the record.
@MusicCatsandCoffee2 ай бұрын
YES! Thank you! Someone had mentioned him contributing to this album. Awesome.
@EiriUesugiKun2 ай бұрын
Ian Anderson plays flute on §4 and §7 and does the spoken word on §1, §2, §4, and §7. And Mikaels daugher, Mirjam, does the echoing voices at the end of the song.

The day this song was released, I was like, Oh cool, a new Opeth song, It caught me off guard, tbh. I fucking love Opeth. So I started listening to it, and then the growl came in. I just screamed and smiled like a fool, lmao

definitely an interesting and unexpected turn for opeth! i’ve been watching ur videos for a couple years and have never commented so just wanted to send a hello and thanks for letting me relive my first experiences with one of my favorite bands!

It's mikeals daughter singing the end of the song,I think the songs great, paragraph 3 is totally different,but still epic.

I kinda like the mix of demon with their recent straight up prog sound.

I'm a bit late for this one today. Been busy preparing for Hurricane Milton. I think I knew the demon would be back since youtube was overwhelmed with reactions to it. I'm not gonna listen to the 2nd one they released until the album comes out. If you do that one, I'll catch it later. Great as usual Lauren!!

I heard this track the first day it was on Spotify and I can tell you, I was not aware of the return of the Demon. I felt as almost as happy as when Argentina won the World Cup!!!! I believe it was a surprise, don´t know if any of Opeth fans knew about that before the song was released

This is like an audio version of a haunted house, enhanced by prog metal. Perfect choice for Halloween Month! 👻

How do you just "bump into Mikael" and go on living your life like a normal person?
@niqlaslundqvist37112 ай бұрын
The "echo part" is the voice of Ian Anderson of legendary Jethro Tull! He also plays the flute on another song on the album and does a "call-respons" on another track with Joey Tempest of Europe! 😁

If KZbin doesn't block it you should do Drag Ropes by storm corrosion. Collab between Mikael and porcupine guy and it's super spooky. The music video is also devastatingly sad. What's not to like!

Respect for the fact that you didn't fake shock at the growls because you had knowledge of it beforehand, shows sincerity which unfortunately is lacking nowadays it seems. I remember my first reaction, I was definitely happy but not necessarily super surprised only because they still do shows with songs with growls in it and eventually you cant never get rid of something that's a part of you. That being said, you dont rehash either, and Opeth didn't rehash (cough metallica) which shows their artistry, in that they are taking elements of all their eras and incorporating into their music with new found freshness with the mentality of evolution balanced with signature. Also as the case with almost most of their songs, they get better with multiple listens (because of so many things happening), personally I love this song.

Reminds me of 70s Prog and the likes of Lucca Turrili. Sounds like they've given up trying to sound serious haha.,

Mikael watched Succession, he got inspired and here we are.

The echo voice is the prog legend Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull. Mikael is a big fan and Ian is also on some other tracks on the new album. You should do a reaction Jethro Tull. Very entertaining live :)

It's all part of an album concept - including the vintage style photo session I'd guess =not the "new look" of the band 😊

The return of Mikeal's harsh vocals on a studio album was a bit of a shock. I don't think they made any mention of it, which was the right decision! While their more recent prog stuff was fine in it's own right (while certainly not my favorite), in this one I'm hoping for the true successor to Watershed...

Hi. You haven’t done two of Mudvayne most popular songs which surprised me. They are more like Happy? And are on movie soundtracks. Please do Not Falling and Forget To Remember. Lots of The Ryan.

They seem to focus much more on the jazzy prog style which is cool but just doesn't quite do it for me. I really miss the sweeping epic melodic and emotional parts they used to do. That's why I prefer the old stuff, "demon" or not.
@lawrencefine50202 ай бұрын
I liked it cuz THE DEMON IS BACK. That being said the second song they released from this, not so much. Mikael is kinda getting goofy with the baritone clean singing. All in all, it's a major improvement over the last 4 albums. THE DEMON HAS RETURNED.. October 11th we get the whole thing. Then we'll judge.

This song is good but I prefer §3; it's a lot more musically "pleasing" to me. §1 was cool with it's growl reveal but the song (at least in it's radio edit format) was a bit repetitive (imho).
