The smaller worms work great for big huge bluegill and shellcrackers. They also will catch smaller bass. Try a smaller hook like a size 6 eagle claw long shank hook. Maybe even size 8.

That $1 worm are versatile, you can use it for tilapia, milk fish, mackerel, cat's, crappie, snakehead, loach, eel trigger fish etc. shop in my area even sell 1.5inch size in pack of 50 for $2
