I've always believed that reeds, mouthpieces and clarinets all make a difference, but all you need from a ligature is that it holds the reed on securely and it's easy to put the reed on and take it off. This is just more evidence for that position.

@@allanjmcpherson yes exactly. It does change the feeling for the player though: response, ease of blowing etc. When people would hear me from a 3rd persons perspective they wouldn‘t be able to tell though if it‘s Fabian playing with a shoe lace or Fabian playing with a metal ishimore ligature.

I carry several ligatures however, when my box of ligatures was stolen and my regular Musique ligature screw no longer tightened, in an emergency went to a plumbing supply store and bought a small box of different size O rings. I used several O rings that kept the reed nicely comfortably tight. I am no longert going to spend $150.00 to $300.00 forany ligature.

@@ew4096 hahaha thanks for sharing! Yeah i guess the ligature is 10x more about the feeling of the player than the ears of the listener. Nevertheless a good rovner mouthpiece that holds the reed in place firmly isn‘t a bad investment 😅

I thought at the beginning, the golden one would be much better than the hair rubber. But as you say, the performance of the player is more important than the quality of the piece. 😊

Thanks! Now I can't blame my ligature for my lousy sound
