In this first episode, prof. Oscar Camara and UPF BME Alumni and post-doctoral researcher Jordi Mill join us to discuss Biomedical Engineering, UPF’s approach to the degree, as well as their current research projects, their professional experiences and their opinions about the current job landscape.
Oscar Camara is a Full Professor in our Department and the coordinator of the Engineering School at the UPF. He obtained a degree in Telecommunications Engineering from UPC (1999), and a Master and Ph.D. in Image Processing in the National Higher School of Telecommunications of Paris (2000 and 2003, respectively). In July 2007, he joined UPF as "Ramón y Cajal" Fellow, where he is coordinating a research group called PhySense, that he founded in 2011. His research is focused on methodologies at the crossroad of computational imaging and computational modelling areas that can be effectively used in a clinical environment, including oncology, neurology and cardiology applications.

Hii I am from nepal. college in here are not much advanced we don't have much resources in here.but i am really intereseted in this field. Soo should i take this as my carrier? Does college matters alot? Or i can do researches and study on my own and by using online resources??

Hi! We don't know about Nepal's situation, but we guess that maybe other engineering areas are much more advanced. Maybe try to get a degree in a more 'general' engineering, and then make your way into the biomedical field in graduate school, or just by your own research and study and showing your value to companies. The most important thing is not college, it's your drive to get from where you are to where you want to be! We hope the best for you!
