Special thanks to our Patreons for their support of the channel! F150 or Ram??

You guys totally forgot to mention the MAX RECLINE front seats. That’s why the shoulder area of the seats has that separate, extra wide section which pivots forward up to 10 degrees. I pivot it forward for highway driving and it’s INCREDIBLY more comfortable in your shoulder blade area than the standard leather seats which I had on my King Ranch. Your entire back now has contoured support. And yes, the seat lays completely flat like a bed if you needed to stop and take a power nap. I’m 6’2”.

As a 2015 Platinum 5.0 owner, Ford dropped the ball on no longer offering the 5.0 on the Platinum and also dropping the brushed metal look on the tailgate. Prices are insane…..I paid $56k for my Platinum at the time.
@filup7419Ай бұрын
@2:09 you are smoking crack if you think $88K is "bringing a lot of value and a lot of truck for the money".
@TheLumberJackedАй бұрын
“Relatively speaking”, is what I believe they meant. So as this F150 compares to the other top trims Like the Ram tungsten and Denali Ultimate, it brings a lot of value and due to the Powerboost I agree. However within the context of just dollars and cents, I agree these prices are stupid.

I just got my platinum plus after seven months with new tailgate and heads up display. The 22 inch tires gives it a smooth ride.

This is the Platinum High trim - for those who may not be familiar with the Platinum. The Platinum High adds no real options, it’s an appearance package strictly. Love the interior seat colour with the quilted stitching but that isn’t worth the downside to the Platinum High, which is, the bright work on the truck. The Dark Appearance package is only available in the “normal” Platinum which makes the truck so much better. This truck with the satin finished trim makes the headlights look like the (late?) 2000’s F250 King Ranch. The Dark Appearance is a mean looking package that dresses it up and makes it look suitably aggressive.

As a current Tundra owner (2019), this hybrid is so much better than the updated Tundra hybrid, and when I upgrade, the standard F150 Platinum is top of the list.

I got a chance to drive a friend's 1794 edition after owning an XLT PB for a few weeks. I'll just say that I was very happy with my decision.

That truck has the 7.2 kw outlet.

Agreed the 240v 30amp circuit only comes with the 7.2kw as seen on this truck.

It's worth noting if for no other reason than providing hope that maybe Ford will make a configuration option available. When comparing between the Lariat and Platinum and deciding whether the Platinum is worth the hefty price tag, there is one major feature that is missing on the Lariat that wasn't mentioned here. You cannot get the 6-1/2ft bed in a SuperCrew if you want the Black Appearance Package... For whatever reason, the running boards within the BAP requires a 145" wheel base. It makes no sense to me.

I agree with the comments about value. I’m showing my age (and speaking like my grandpa) but trucks that cost close to $100k and are glorified station wagons always make me suspicious. If this is your work truck and you haul ALL DAY or you’re fifth-wheeling constantly then I get it. But most of us buy it and park it. Seems like a bad trade off for “value”. One question I have, Matt, is I thought the new Fords were all coming with vertical touchscreens? Horizontal just doesn’t do it for me. But it looks as if massive horizontal wrap around screens are becoming the industry standard. Can you confirm?
@troystuckey3532Ай бұрын
Only the Lightning gets the vertical screen.

I can't get over the thought that this is the most unnecessary new truck to hit the market in a long time. It seems to be a little less stylish, a little less capable, and a little more expensive than its predecessor. In terms of value, I would say as a fleet owner and operator, I'm not seeing it. There's also the issue - this has nothing to do with the truck, but everything to do with value - of financing at today's interest rates. When most of us purchased our previous trucks, we were incentivized to do so with extremely low interest rates and attractive rebates. Today with get neither. The value just isn't there beyond wanting to look like you have the newest truck, if that's your thing.
@shaunpodolski2423Ай бұрын
Agreed, but you can say that about nearly all new, higher end trucks these days. Hell, ANY truck these days are not worth what they cost. It is what it is. I also wouldn’t say this is the most unnecessary new truck in a long time, as not much really has changed on it in the last 4+ years.. ALL manufacturers would sell their overpriced vehicles if they went back to low or 0 %, totally agreed. I got a ‘21 f150 with 0.5%. Picked up a ‘24 a few weeks ago at 7.99. It really is a killer

@@shaunpodolski2423 Picked up a Platinum Powerboost the other day 1.99 and 15k off with employee pricing (Canada) I got a few grand off of the regular incentive. As to the OP, what other truck does what the Powerboost does? It out hauls, out loads and powers the competition (with actual electricity ⚡️ 😂) Less HP but more torque than a Ram and the 3.5 engine now that the major issues are handled is basically one of the most buttoned up engines out there. Cam Phasers - fixed, turbo bypass valve rattle - fixed with a rotary style valve, 10R80 Transmission Basket failure - fixed. The Powerboost Exhaust Heat Exchanger leak - fixed. Genuinely buttoned up. RAM has 2 trims now above Limited, I’d suggest the Tungsten by some margin is the most unnecessary trim. The Limited which is 2 trims down is about the same price as the f150 Platinum (not High version - which is an appearance package) yet the Ram Limited is missing a ton of stuff at that price point like 360 cameras and self driving. I believe the new front end with the Dark Appearance package is far better looking than this Platinum High in the video, and it’s really grown on me. It’s a beautiful design.
@swampgumpharpy7977Ай бұрын
@@shaunpodolski2423 Nothing "is what it is". That is what people say when they accept the way things are. Also, I didn't really remark on the truck being overpriced; I remarked on the truck's value in terms of improvements over its predecessor, and in terms of buying incentives and finance options. You helped make my point about value when you stated that not much has changed. Correct, thus the new model is unnecessary. For me, I'm not interested in trading my trucks for new trucks for many reasons, including that the cost of maintaining the older trucks -for the first time in my career - is significantly less than the cost of financing new trucks. I'm not willing to say "it is what it is", and then accept the "killer" 8% finance rate, and I'm simply farther ahead in terms of fiscal expenses than I would've been because of it.

When doing reviews, pls do not list what ford tells everyone for payload and towing. Look at the door sticker for the truck you are reviewing. No way in hell that truck can haul 2400 lbs. If I were new to truck shopping I would think this limited can haul and tow just about anything. Just saying

Best comment here !!!!!!! Totally misleading. I bet that payload is maybe 1300 lbs at best. This is coming from a powerboost owner...
