I’d argue that moonstone and opal are also both bad choices. They get discolored very easily.

Would you talk about vintage engagement rings? Buying second hand can be a much more affordable option, plus you can get a unique piece that's already stood the test of time rather than something trendy that looks dated in a few years.

I always wondered about pearl's durability. Tha ks for the information!

A bezel setting if the pearl has a flat back would be more secure and offer some protection, but yeah it still won't fully stand up to daily wear as a ring.

You could have a pearl engagement ring but also get another ring for everyday wear. So in fancy occasions you can wear the pearl ring but during everyday stuff you have something that won't be broken.
@talialalalala3 ай бұрын
You could also just come to terms with replacing the pearl every now and then if you’re dead set on it

What about opals?? I absolutely adore opals but I’m not sure how well it would hold up since it’s not a traditional stone
@AkiIka-j5d2 ай бұрын
They can break easily if there's a chance in heat, moisture and a lot of other things, she has made a video about it. If you'd like an opal anyways you can get one but get a different ring for everyday wear

Pearl necklaces are so very popular though, and have been for ages. Does the necklace setting lend itself to Pearl longevity moreso than rings do?
@freddynetto183 ай бұрын
i would say it’s because our hands are constantly touching things like liquids, foods, dirt and anything else of that sort meanwhile the same doesn’t really go for your neck or chest area

Pearls are soft but they’re actually really tough. They’re extremely resistant to external pressure, and much less likely to fracture from a good whack than other, harder, but more brittle gemstones.
